I don't understand this.  Why is there the assumption that Hollywood thinks they know better than everyone else?  Who ever said that?  They just have their own opinion, like everyone else.  Doesn't each person on the planet think their opinion is the right one?  Why should anyone, regardless of what they do for a living, relinquish their right to an opinion???  They just have the platform to voice it.

I don't agree with my next door neighbor's opinion and I see it every stinking day because of their lawn sign.  You just don't see them on TV all the time.

@Caaareful Shopper

If these celebs gave only their opinions. The get their podiums and the BIG microphone and seem to mix fact with fiction. The real big mouths do this so often, they seem unable to separate 1 from the other. You see their rhetoric as an opinion? They got'cha!

You ask: "who ever said that", in reference to they know better than everyone else.  They are not shy of spouting their virtue's, so it isn't who, it is themselves. If you hear or read their written prepared speeches, as opinions? Keep listening!

If I need some legal advice, I prefer an attorney, not an actor/actress who has played one on TV or in a movie. Throw in the fact that most of them are hypocrites, tell others to conserve and not to pollute our environment, as they fly around the country on their private jets? Wonder how many are seen flying "coach" on a commercial airline?

They got a platform alright and as the saying goes, I thought they were fools until they opened their mouths, then I knew/know they were/are.

Just my opinion of course.

I'm thinking about boycotting CBS, Colbert's new show is positively revolting.

@SydneyH

I agree. The only thing that kept his show from being cancelled is the material he starting using after November 8, 2016.

@hckynut   I have never vouched for the accuracy of anyone's statements.  It seems it's you that confuse opinions as fact.  Do you think your opinion is the absolute fact, all the time?  If they said things that you agree with, no matter the luxury of taking liberties with possible facts, would you be so inclined to malign them all?  They are no better than you or me, but they have an avenue of expressing themselves, and you have several options -- listening, agreeing, tuning them out, disagreeing.

I tune out most news broadcasts because of their heavy handed slant on facts and delivering the entire story as if it's gospel.  Do you want to talk about their platform for misleading opinions where they are concerned?  The world today is one big megaphone, so like it or not, they all have access with opinions they want to share.   Here in these forums is our platform for little ol' you & me, no cameras or microphones required.  Your “gotcha’” is unnecessary, just my opinion.

Actually the Lyft driver was an excellent source of information. She worked directly with these people for decades in wardrobe. Fittings, selection, all of it. She told me all about very specific experiences. Angelina being one. And about celebs who were extremely nice and pleasant to deal with. She knew about Weinstein too before it was public.

  Thankfully, we live in a free society.We enjoy freedom of the press as well as freedom of speech,period.We can’t pick & choose what’s made public & what isn’t.We as individuals are all entitled to our perspectives.We also have the option of turning the page or changing the channel.

  Very simply stated,if you don’t like something you hear or read don’t pay attention to it!! If you deny someone their right of expression you will ultimately deny yourself yours!!

And just because I might agree with Alec Baldwin regarding some subjects, that doesn't mean I would defend his comments about Dylan Farrow. They were way over the top and out of line.

He closed his Twitter account after he victim blamed and shamed Rose McGowan on there. Because of these situations, and others, I don't care for him and think he's a know it all.

@Caaareful Shopper  The main danger here is that Hollywood (celebrities) have the popularity, forum, stage to speak their opinions to thousands of people who are captive audiences....especially if they tuned in to see an awards show.

I can walk away from someone who’s in my face being offensive and trying to push their opinions on me, but with celebrities, when they have the “mic”, that’s their platform to spout their politics/voice. I don’t watch the show or change the channel because I’ve learned to expect this.

BTW, many talk shows are getting way too opinionated for my taste....I tuned in to be entertained. If I want conflict, I can watch a news channel.
