@Trinity11 are: lower ratings. IMO when award shows featured Marilyn Monroe, Liz Taylor, etc. the atmosphere was very different. We were more interested in the awards themselves and seeing the dresses and jewels that the stars actually purchased and owned. Today gowns and diamonds are given to them for publicity. Hence the first interview question: “Who are you wearing?” Who cares if it’s just borrowed for a few hours.
@Shanus...it was a different world back then. People had fewer choices when it came to entertainment. They tuned in because there was less entertainment overall. Look at some of the repeats of the Academy Awards from the late 60's. If ever there was a time for political commentary...
Speaking of Liz Taylor.....she often rented her jewelry for big award shows. I knew a dealer in the Jewelry Industry who used to supply her with jewelry for special appearances. He told me tales of some of these people in Hollywood....well, let's just say I wish he had written a book.
My motto is "The More Things Change, the More They Remain the Same."

@LindaSal I don't understand this. Why is there the assumption that Hollywood thinks they know better than everyone else? Who ever said that? They just have their own opinion, like everyone else. Doesn't each person on the planet think their opinion is the right one? Why should anyone, regardless of what they do for a living, relinquish their right to an opinion??? They just have the platform to voice it.
I don't agree with my next door neighbor's opinion and I see it every stinking day because of their lawn sign. You just don't see them on TV all the time.
Thank you ..... people post their opinions on here (myself included) but have a hissy fit when well known people voice their opinions ... make any sense to you?
I have no idea what the OP is referring to .... you'd think people would start a thread and be sure to include where they read or saw what they are referring to! Grrrr
No reason upsetting yourself. Here's a suggestion. Given the fact more than several occasions have made it clear that my comments are extremely irritating to you! Stop opening my threads. Problem solved!
Oh brother .... I'm not upset ....
Like others' comments indicated above, we just wanted to know why you suddenly started a thread about Alec Baldwin. Was he doing an interview ... or was he on some talk show .... or what?

Dylan WHO ?

Why are actors the only ones who gives themselves trophies on national TV ... why not do what all employed Americans expect, and just accept their 'bonus' that come in an envelope.
The amount of award shows, red carpet events, etc. are overwhelming, almost ego inflating, and bordering on narcissistic tendencies.

Policemen, firefighters, doctors and nurses should be making the kind of money these clowns make because they actually save lives. These bozo's act like their jobs are so taxing and their lives are so difficult. I could care less what they feel or what their opinions are. I agree, Alex Baldwin is a big mouth a**.
People love to hate rich people. Just because they’re rich. They don’t know them, but they hate them.
