Better a union violation than an indictment for involuntary manslaughter.

@lgfan

i don't disagree, but your comment is based on 20/20 hindsight, and no one thinks that way 24/7.

I doubt anyone will disagree, but you know darn well that this happens all the time in real life, and even happens on movie sets where everything is fake props and make believe situations.

What I would like to know is why would Baldwin have the gun pointed at the Cinematographer when he pulled the trigger?

In reply to others who have stated that it wasn't the responsibility of Baldwin to check the gun beforehand, I have read otherwise in that there are stringent gun regulations on movie sets and that the guns are...(should be)... checked by all involved, including the Actors.

It is also questionable as to how a live bullet ended up in the gun to begin with if there are such stringent gun regulations?

IMO, the live bullet is the real issue here.  How did it even get there?  Are people going to blame Alec for that?

Just fyi -------  I've lived in SoCal for decades and have known many people who work on TV and film sets.  I've sat in many live audiences with TV shows filming.

One thing I haven't seen mentioned anywhere is the strength of the UNIONS in the entertainment industry.

Generally, you DO NOT do the work of another's job description or a union rep will be on the set, stopping production in a flash, and all helllo breaks loose.

The Teamsters do not fool around when it comes to job descriptions and duties.

Example, if a chair is in the way on a set, the prop person moves it, you don't.  If a light bulb goes out you do not replace it, the electrician does that.

That is deeply ingrained in anyone who has worked on film sets, so Alec "not checking" could easily to avoid a union violation and no one (in the industry) would ever expect that of him.

Just my two cents, but this is a serious legal point.

@Tinkrbl44

The New Mexico OSHA summary sited that it being a 'Low Budget Contract film, not all employees were union members'.

That aside, the rest of the report cited really lax safety concerns for the actors and crew overseen by the Rust management.

All should be taken to trial for their part in this tragedy.

@PABoater.  Of course that has been investigated extensively, with inconclusive results.

@LTT1   .. what does an affair have to do with a charge of involuntary manslaughter?

@Boehm Collector

If he was having an affair with the victim and killed her to keep her quiet, that has a lot to do with it. I am not saying he did, just raising a hypothetical based on your question.  I, however, have never thought he should be charged with involuntary manslaughter but 2nd degree murder.  I think he was the guilty party.  He knew the gun was pointed straight at her and if he did not check to see if it was loaded, that is his fault.  He was in charge, totally.  Just like the corporate president is in charge of what his company does, i.e.., Boeing.

In my opinion, Alex Baldwin was sabatoged. He isn't always the most easy going guy. Someone might also hate his politics. I blieve someone put those bullets in the gun. A while back the case was closed. I'm not sure why it was open again.

Alec claims he didnt shoot the gun.  Was his fingerprints on the trigger?    Okay....if not,   then

Whose fingerprints are on the Hammer of the gun?  The Hammer had to be pulled back, c0cked, in order to prepare to touch the trigger & shoot the gun.

Alec says he didnt touch the trigger.  Well did Alec touch the hammer?  That is preparation for & signifies intention to shoot.

@shoekitty ...Yes, further down in the thread, it was suggested that it would be a good idea for a new thread titled "Alec Baldwin Trial" to be started...So @Trailrun23  was kind enough to do that in the "TV and Movies" forum.
