I promote a low fat whole foods plant based diet for healing many modern day illnesses. Eating this way, while providing enough calories for an active lifestyle, will reverse Type 2 diabetes. Fact.
I started a thread titled "Heart Attacks: A plant based exercise solution" on 4/1. Of course the conversation always moves to diabetes where I always say, Type 2 diabetes can be reversed eating a low fat, whole foods, plant based diet. Posters engrained w/ their LCHF ideas always have a hard time understanding the many detailed studies & hundreds of thousands of testimonials which supports my statement of healing with low fat, whole foods, plant based (heavy on starches) way of eating.
In fact one poster said,

Fast forward to today.....Dr. Jason Fung talk.
Dr. Jason Fung promotes dietary means for diabetes cure.
Dr. Jason Fung promotes fasting...lots & LOTS of 20hr to multi-day fastings.
Dr. Jason Fung promotes Atkins-style eating plan...but only after lots of fasting.
I agree with some of Dr. Fung's beliefs...especially with diet curing diabetes. Unfortunately, his dozen/2 success patients (very limited group) in his blog and videos will always be fasting for diabetes control. Begin to eat every day for an active lifestyle & the diabetes will return...of course. Don't eat & you'll be healed. Tying it to TBL, they basically fasted while on the 'ranch'. I'm sure they saw results, obviously, but we see what happens when they start eating again. Dr. Fung's fasting routine will do the same....slow down the metabolism.
But what's giggle-worthy, the same poster above ^^^ CAPITALIZING for emphasis, is the same poster singing the praises of Dr. Jason Fung with his Cure for Diabetes...."best book ever,"
Well....how about that?
Just know your leaders. Obviously this poster doesn't know this.
I do. My plant-based leaders have been educating me for 20+ years saying the same consistent message:
Low fat, whole foods, plant based eating will reverse today's modern illnesses...all the while eating starchy, satisfying food we all grew up with. Eating to satiation w/ no fasting.
Dr. Fung never stated that his diet actually cures diabetes. Many of us have weight issues and we don't have diabetes. His dietary advice (because he doesn't have one set of rules...he believes in the individual...and he gives suggestions and ideas why people are obese. The book was not written solely for diabetes.....it addresses the many illnesses that happen to people because of obesity.
He also does not debunk the diet you are promoting. Clearly it works for many. That's why I was so impressed with him.......no more one size fits all advice.

@MaggieMack wrote:@Trinity11, thanks for the recommendation of the book, just ordered from Amazon.
Maggie, it probably is one of the best written book regarding controlling one's weight that I have ever read. After a lifetime of struggling to maintain ...which I have been successful doing (edited to add but not all of the time)....I wanted to know the reason I seem not to be able to eat more than 1000 calories a day to maintain. He addresses this and like the people on The Biggest Loser after years of dieting, I think a lot of us have slowed our metabolism. Dr. Fung addresses this in the book and how to maintain with less work and obsession with calories.

Ahhhhh.....yeah he does.
Know your leaders.
They might be promoting something you might not believe in.
In fact he has numerous YouTube interviews & lectures outlining the diabetic cure...and blog posts.
At least next time I post about diabetes being a modern day illness with a modern day solution for diabetic reversal, you should gree with my position. Thank you.

Dr. Jason Fung: Many people object to the use of the word ‘cure’, but to me it is merely semantics. If you go back to eating a diet that gave you diabetes, then you will get it again. If you prefer to use the word ‘remission’ that is fine, too. However, ‘cure’ makes the point that we need to be thinking about entirely reversing this disease process rather than merely managing symptoms.
So clearly semantics is how he describes it but personally I think he should drop the word "cure." If a diabetic goes back to their poor diet they will once again be diabetic. So it never was a cure rather a manipulation of their diet.

Semantics to sell more books & the like.
Clearly his WOE doesn't work. He says so.
LCHF doesn't work...the diet he promotes doesn't work.
Wow. And people buy into this.
LOTS of holes in his theory about obesity & diabetes.
The only way to reverse diabetes/obesity/heart disease, etc., is plant based, whole food, low fat.

I have not been a viewer of that show in the past but after reading what they put the contestants through it is really disappointing to the say the least. This is not the way to eat or exercise to lose weight. Many past contestants have come forward and told of what happens behind the scenes and weight gain after the program isn't one bit surprising at all considering they go against every medically safer procedure for dieting. They are over exercised to the point of insanity and they are pretty much starved. I am surprised no one has died. You cannot take people that overweight and throw them into something like that. It is a shock to the body. If I were a trainer or nutritionist, I would never be on this show because it goes against every healthy and medically safe way to lose weight. It makes me think a little less professionally of some of these trainers. They know better.

@missy1, that is some article! It certainly puts a different perspective on the show. I'm glad I quit watching a few seasons ago.

Thanks Missy for posting. Years ago a physician that worked for the show exposed the unethical ways the contestants were treated. I guess it was sadly all true.
