Re: Active Shooter Not Located

When my husband was in security management he forbid employees to have guns at the workplace including their vehicles. The employees were outraged and got it overturned. He was very unpopular for that.

Police update going on now.

The shooter had a criminal past.  And he could still obtain weapons.

I would have left that job. No reason for guns on company property. So glad everywhere I've worked prohibited firearms on premises, including vehicles parked on company property. But I have always lived and worked in states with strict gun laws.

Re: Active Shooter Not Located

5 people dead in yet another mass shooting and it seems to be low on the news coverage (and not very active here with posts).  And where are the lawmakers? Have they all just turned their backs?

Are people getting more complacent about this?

Is this just the new normal that we are supposed to accept?

I used to jump all over these threads, but they've been poofed so often one wonders if it's worth the effort. In general, I think we've just become immune to these tragedies. However, there is still work being done. A bill for Universal Background Checks has been passed in the House just this past week. There are serious efforts to limit the number of bullets in a magazine. I predict we'll have much tougher laws within the next few years.

@QueenDanceALot

You bring up an interesting point.

Even in our small biosphere of QVC Community...even we are not

talking about it. And it’s not a ‘poof’ issue...it’s a current events topic.

Interesting dynamic.

Seriously? I can't tell you how many posts I've had deleted on this topic. I saw this thread a couple of days ago and thought, why bothet? It will be gone in a heartbeat anyway.

I was referring to the news-informational angle, not the opinion-rich why.

Informational threads, who/what/when/where, remaining standing.

If one wants to delve into the ‘why’, that’s why Reddit was developed...

or 280 characters of Twitter.

I am thankful that no police officers were killed.  They have family and children and keep us safe from harm everyday.

@Katcat1 and the civilians that were shot don’t have family?   What makes the police officers so different from them?
