This is now live on TV just outside Chicago in Aurora, IL.  Evidentially, there have been casualties but the gunman has not been located.  There is an army of fire and police vehicles.  I think of these firemen and police protecting us from the gunman.  Bless them to stay safe.    3:03 pm the gunman has been apprehended.

@Katcat1.  Yesterday they had a student at one of our high schools fired a gun in the hallway.  He was quickly apprehended outside of the building but the whole town nearly came unhinged.  School was dismissed before noon and is also closed today.  Nobody was injured.

How many more innocent people have to die???

The shooter is dead and the police officers that were injured are in stable condition.  I don't believe there are any other fatalities and they will be having a press conference within the hour.  I'll update as soon as I have updated information and please say a prayer for those that were injured.  

eta:  sorry @Katcat1 looks like I repeated most of what you said.  I was just so stunned when I turned the tv on and saw what was happening.

@Kachina624   Unfortunately, it seems to be the norm today for some people.  They are upset with their employers so they get a gun and want to hurt innocent people.  The gunman was killed and so far only injuries are mentioned which is wonderful.  I really hate to see chidren with guns.

         I heard that a coroner was called up to the scene. Probably one or more fatalities -- hopefully just the shooter. So sad....

@momtochloe  You can comment as much as you want.  I am just glad the gunman did not kill any people.  It is so sad that this is what some people resort to when they are upset about something and want to hurt others.

I live 45 minutes from Aurora. We're hearing  that the gunman has been apprehended. There are wounded, but no casualties. Is the shooter dead or has he been apprehend? It depends on what news station you're getting your news from.

I READ on  twitter (ABC) that one is dead; 4 are injured and that a suspect has been detained.

• Five officers wounded, all should survive
• Five employees dead, still notifying family members
• Shooter was killed by police returning fire
• No motive determined at this time (but a few news outlets are reporting the gunman was laid off two weeks ago)
