Re: ARE YOU SUPERSTITIOUS?

[ Edited ]

My mother was extremely superstitious and it drove us kids crazy. I didn't follow in her footsteps.

@silentgirl

I don't know if you're joking so I hate to admit that I am laughing.  I always say it must be dry skin because I never see the money.

I'm glad you laughed @Bird mama I have a kind of sick sense of humor-and the worst itchy palms everrrr-I looked it up a few years ago and found it could be a sign of renal failure-every time I see my doctor, I'm like, are you sure my kidneys are alright?

So when I saw your superstition I said to myself, oh thank goodness....it's about money-then,  I immediately reverted back to; and if it is kidney failure I'll have the money to pay the bill...!

I'm going to now attempt a healthy adoption of your "dry skin" belief-  Smiley Wink

i am not superstitious about ladders, black cats (We have a tuxedo kitten!) or any of the normal superstitions..

But I do carry things for luck so maybe that is superstitious?

For instance I have an angel visor clip in our car my aunt (who is deceased) gave me along with a little hello kitty my middle granddaughter gave me years ago.

And I know this may seem odd to you but I still carry my dads wallet in my purse since the day he died (and I don't tell anyone its in my purse). I also wear a gold chain with an Italian coin around my neck my husband gave me in remembrance of my dad after his passing (because dad was Italian). My dad and I were very close. He was my best friend and the best dad in the world and I had a lot of trouble dealing with his death (6 years ago). And well family means the world to me (thus the other 2 things I carry). For years after my mom died in the 70s, I carried my moms photo brag book too but no longer do. .

So maybe I'm a little superstitious...

In terms of remembering the deceased, I can be sentimental rather than superstitious. Carrying a reminder of a loved one is sentimental. Being positive that if you don't carry it something terrible will happen is superstitious.

We all know the palms itching, nose itching superstitions.

Back in the day when it was That Time of the Month, I used to wonder aloud what it meant if your boob itched. Never got an answer.

My Puerto Rican friend told me to "never set your purse on the floor or ground and it will never by empty (money)."  I'm not supetstitious but why chance it?

@Zhills

I don't put my purse on the floor so it doesn't get dirty!  lol

Full Moon

Many talk about the 'lunar effect' of a full moon.

Nothing documented or studied,

but as someone working in customer service for 30 yrs.

I could document more cranky calls during the Full Moon phase.

Guaranteed.  So yes, I'm superstitious.

@sidsmom

Nothing documented or studied ... who told you that?

If you think CS is tough, you should check out police stations and emergency rooms during the full moon!  Yikes!

Supposedly the correlation is that the human body is about 80% water .... similar to the earth's surface being 80% water.  The moon has a gravitational pull strong enough for them to be able to document times the tides go in and out, and the pull also affects the human body as well.

Besides ..... where else could they have gotten the word LUNA-tic ?
