[I am still oxox]

I will keep this short, I am not sure i will watch today's coverage, on 9-11-01, I worked in lower Manhattan , 3 blocks south of the WTC. I was on an express the Battery Tunnel when the first plane hit, someone got a call that a place hit the WTC, it a long time for the bus to exit the tunnel,  I was standing 2 blocks south of the WTC when the second plane crashed. 

I will never forget the events of that day and the weeks and months to follow, breathing in the poisonous fumes to seeing the brave people in the rescue effort.

I was in California, and had woken at 7 a.m. (Pacific), to a world that had gone mad.

I remember screaming when I saw the second tower fall on live television.

I didn't know a single person in New York City, but I was haunted by the images that I saw unfolding before my eyes on live television.

For those of you who were in the area, or had loved ones survive the attacks, I cannot imagine your feelings.

I was working in DC at the time, but attending a conference in Maryland.  I called my office to confirm what happened and my coworkers said they could see smoke coming from the Pentagon.   I drove home as fast as I could listenening to it unfold on the radio.

It seemed the world was ending that day.

-10:28 a.m. - Moment of silence (observance of time of fall of the North Tower)
-Reading of names continues to conclusion
-12:30 p.m. - Program concludes"

It's such an emotional day- still. I'm in NJ, maybe 30 miles outside of NYC and the images are with me forever. My kids were young and it impacted them so much, my son especially.

Thanks to all who have posted about that horrible day 16 yrs ago.  I remember watching as the second plane hit the towers and not knowing what to do.  There was certainly something I could do!!  But there was nothing but prayer and crying.  I didn't lose anyone, but I felt awfully close to all those who did.....and the victims!

I'm watching the ceremony, crying along with everyone else. How sad it is, these young people reading the names, some were not even born yet, some may have been infants or toddlers. How sad they will only remember their loved ones through stories and memories others have told them. I feel especially sad for the children who will never know their father or mother, and how much was stolen from them.
