I'm watching the ceremony, crying along with everyone else. How sad it is, these young people reading the names, some were not even born yet, some may have been infants or toddlers. How sad they will only remember their loved ones through stories and memories others have told them. I feel especially sad for the children who will never know their father or mother, and how much was stolen from them.

@Jordan2In the earlier part of the reading this morning, a girl was reading names. Quite eloquently in fact- she must have been no more than 8 or 9 years old!  It's so heartbreaking- and many have died since, with all the toxins they were exposed to in the weeks following.

Here's another way of looking at it.

As horrible, and horrific as that day was, new children came in to the world because of it.

Even though I didn't know a single person in N.Y.C., I was still haunted by the images that I saw.

In no way am I glad that that day happened.

Not even remotely.

But, there were husbands who lost wives.

You had wives who have lost husbands.

Many of them have since found love again, and through that love, brought new children in to the world.

They wouldn't be here, if not for the tragedy.

That's how I choose to look at it.

My thoughts go to the horror of that day, the ones that lost their lives ,the families that lost people they love.

When you lose some one you L~O~V~E, that Memory of them, becomes a TREASURE.

I still have such a clear picture of that day and those towers being hit!  I remember what I was eating, where I was and who was in the room with me!!  So shocked - could not talk at first!

I have been watching the History Channel most of the day. Some really interesting and touching shows on 9/11. Some of the topics have been specifc to items from that day or certain people.

Really good show on the flag that the firefighters flew on the side of a building.  A photographer at the site took a picture and it was shown all over the media that day!  Then the flag had disappeared...it was found more than thirteen years later!!

We visited the World Trade Center in July of 2001.  We went to the very top of the building...I remember thinking to myself, "I'd hate to be up here if there was ever a fire in the building", of course not guessing in a million years what would happen two months later.

I still remember when we visited the city that summer, we didn't have a lot of time so we were trying to decide whether we would visit the Empire State Building or the World Trade Center.  In retrospect, I'm so glad we visited the WTC.  I remember so much about that building...the beautiful flags of different nations, the elevator ride to the top, the souvenir/gift shop...just the majestic feeling of it overall.

It's still so hard to remember that day, although I do think it's important to never forget and always keep all the souls of those lost, close to heart.
