Re: 4th Of July Is Next Weekend, Any Plans?

[ Edited ]

We will do our normal tradition! We have a huge parade, and since my brother lives on the parade route, he saves a big space for us all. They have bagels, coffee, juice and fruit for everyone as well.

After the parade, we all go to my other sister's house for a picnic-there is usually about 25-30 people, with maybe 8 children.....

Later that night are fireworks, but we stopped going because it is far too crowded, and they only last about 30 minutes, so now my grandson and my husband do their fireworks show at our house for about an hour!

It is a busy, very long day but it is tradition and it is my 2nd favorite holiday so we love it!!!!!! My younger sister and I used to be in a Color Guard and we marched the parade, so it holds some very special meaning to us!

Edite to say our celebration is on the 5th-not the actual 4th since it falls on a Sunday-sunday we go to church!

We are moving next week, so we will probably spend most of the weekend unpacking.

@CANDLEQUEEN

Thanks!  We have a smaller sized apartment (~1,000 sq. ft.), but it feels like we have enough stuff for a family of 4!  Movers come tomorrow, but my husband is taking some boxes today to make tomorrow a bit easier.  I'm taking an Oreo & Iced Tea break right now!

I love Independence Day and being able to celebrate our freedoms! We're beyond wanting to celebrate in large crowds, so I'll do some simple grilling, make some potato salad, watch some special programming on TV and generally enjoy the day - just hubby and me.
