Re: What Are You Reading? JUNE 2017

I discovered the Molly Murphy series about a year and a half ago. Just checked out book 8 The Gilded Cage. Enjoy.

Currently reading

The Cruelest Miles: The Heroic Story of Dogs and Men in a Race Against an Epidemic
by Gay Salisbury and Laney Salisbury.
This is the story of the 1925 diptheria epidemic in Nome Alaska and the dog sled teams that brought the antitoxin; It is also the story of life in Alaska in the early 20th century as well as dog sledding. I am enjoying this. Has some great historic photos as well.

Re: What Are You Reading? JUNE 2017

Full Wolf Moon by Lincoln Child (part of the duo of Douglas Preston).

Suspense set in the woods of New England. The main character is Jeremy Logan, and I believe there are other books with this same character. I always like to read a series in order.

I could read this book straight through, but I have other things I need to do at home. This book has held my attention throughout. I will be sorry to see it end.

Re: What Are You Reading? JUNE 2017

Tonight I finished reading Washing the Dead by Michelle Brafman. It's a book about three generations of a religious Jewish family living in the suburbs of Milwaukee. I really enjoyed it and found myself crying at the end, although I didn't expect to. I guess it touched me a lot more than I thought.

I'm not sure what I'm going to start to read tonight. It's always difficult for me to get into another book when the one I just finished affected me greatly.

I've had this one on my list for a while.  I read her other one Bertrand Court and really enjoyed it.

Re: What Are You Reading? JUNE 2017

Based on recommendations from the May thread, I just got done with The Perfect Neighbors by Sarah Pekkanen.  I really enjoy it and may have a new author to add to my favorites...have requested the rest of her books from the library.  It reminded me of a Liane Moriarty combined with Elin Hilderbrand novel...some humor mixed in with a tale of friends and the secrets they hide.  Was a great light read where I wanted to keep reading the next chapter when at the end of the previous one.

Just started Never Let You Go by Chevy Stevens and am really enjoying it, too!  So suspenseful!  Wow.  You really feel the emotions of the characters and understand why an abused woman might stay in a relationship longer than she should...absolute fear!  Very well written, and if the book continues like it starts...will have another author to add to my favorites!

I am reading My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier.  I saw a trailer for the movie and decided to read the book before deciding whether to see the movie.

So far I'm a little less than impressed but willing to continue.

I just read Lisa Scottline (not sure I spelled her name correctly) book Damaged.  I enjoyed it very much.  Have not read anything by her as far as I know. I will definitely read some more of hers.
