Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? AUGUST 2020

Just finished "Big Summer" by Jennifer Weiner. I was reading right along. . .and bam. . .suddely it's a murder mystery.  Anyway, pretty good summer reading.   Meanwhile, I'm also listening to ""Open Book" by Jessica Simpson.  She was never a big favorite of mine, but it's interesting and I especially like that she does the reading.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? AUGUST 2020

@Lilysmom  Just for YIF, I got a reply from my library about ordering The Sandhamm Murders book and for the first time they turned me down! (of all the nerve, hahaha). Seriously, they said it didn't fit their criteria which usually has to do with cost and timeliness.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? AUGUST 2020

"If you have ever been depressed and felt like ending it all, this story shows that life is certainly worth living although you may not feel like it at the time.  You change as life happens and what may feel like a miserable life one day can be seen as a miracle the next day. You just need to hang on.

Great book, keeps you reading and smiling all the way through the book.
This book was also full of Birmingham Alabama history and places, and the people who live there. I enjoyed reading what the town had been like in the fifties and the more current picture as well. I greatly enjoyed this book."

Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? AUGUST 2020

I have finally finished Shoot Him If He Runs by Stuart Woods. This is a book that I have had in the office, that I would pick up from time to time while I was there and read for 15 or 20 minutes. It has taken me over 2 months to complete this book, and that's only because I decided to bring it home tonight and wrap it up.

I will now be returning to The Border by Don Winslow.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? AUGUST 2020

I just finished Murder In Avignon:  A Race Against Time, Book 17 of the Maggie Newberry series by Susan Kiernan-Lewis.

The series is set in the south of France, and in this book, Maggie is on her own for the weekend as she visits Avignon for the annual summer theatre festival.  The premise is for her to make contacts for her newsletter, but it doesn't turn out that way.

Another good book, but I was disappointed in the actual murderer.  Seemed a little far-fetched to me.  So, not one of hte best books of the series, but still a good read.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

Today I finished The Stranger by Harlan Coben.  It was a very good mystery but i wish it would have ended a little differently.  This is the second book of his that I've read and will definitely get more from the library.

I have three going right now:

The Englisch Daughter, by Cindy Woodsmall and her daugther-in-law, Erin Woodsmall;  Amish fiction.

The Happy Camper, by Melody Carlson;

The Lost And Found Bookshop, by Susan Wiggs.  Loving this book.

I just finished The Grim Murder by Kate Carlisle an enjoyable murder mystery held in wine country, with descriptions of beautiful scenery, and stately but cozy homes. with colorful characters, a bully and a woman people do not like, a fast easy read to read over an afternoon!!

@CareBears

There is a good series set in the VIRGINIA wine country by author Ellen Crosby.  I have read most of those and enjoyed them.  You might like that series.
