I think when some people get famous they are addicted to it and frantically search for ways to stay in the limelight.
I see these old athletes who won't give it up even when they are way past their prime and it's sad we don't encourage people to have a life and enjoy it when you're no longer the center of attention.

I just finished reading two JP books I checked out of the library. NYPD Red and NYPD Red2 (refers to an elite team of detectives). I enjoyed both. Easy reads, and I really like the 2 main characters. The dialogue is humorous, and the stories are entertaining. Yes, he did collaborate with another writer.

Patterson has been "writing" with others for a very long time.
I am not a fan.
(I do not like any--Jodi Picoult, for example--who get credit for endlessly using other people's writings to push their own.)

There are a total of six books in that series, which I have read and enjoyed. I hope you are able to read the others.

@icezeus Thank you for letting me know about the others. I will definitely be on the lookout for them.

Whether JP writes the books all on his own or co-writes them doesn't make any difference to me. As long as I enjoy reading his books I'll keep coming back for more.
I always found his books to be a nice palate cleanser after I've read a more involved / intense book from some other author. JP's books are quick reads for me abd very enjoyable.
I've been reading his books for many years. I especially love the Michael Bennett series, and the Women's Murder Club series.

Article and video w/ Dolly Parton and James Patterson

Singer-songwriter Dolly Parton and bestselling author James Patterson have collaborated on a new novel, "Run, Rose, Run."
Here are a few excerpts
For his latest novel, Patterson decided to write about a nobody coming to Nashville with dreams of becoming a somebody. Even he admits that's a tale as well-worn as an old pickup, which is why he needed a co-writer who had actually lived that life to give the book a little sparkle.
"I asked him, 'Why you need me? You're doin' pretty good on your own!" said Dolly Parton.
Patterson noted, "Dolly said, 'He's that guy that writes about serial killers, right?'"... "Yeah, I knew that."
It might seem an odd pairing at first – the girl from the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, who became one of the queens of country music, teaming up with a former Manhattan ad executive-turned-bookworm, who's barely touched a guitar in his life.
They hadn't met until 2019, when Patterson flew to Nashville to pitch Parton on the idea.
Their collaboration is called "Run, Rose, Run," the story of a young country singer named AnnieLee who comes to Nashville, only to find that the music industry can be just as heartbreaking as the secret she's carrying.
AnnieLee finds comfort in a retired country music icon named Ruthanna, read in the audiobook by – who else? – Parton herself.
She pointed one perfect, blood-red nail at AnnieLee's heart. "Here's my advice for you, AnnieLee Keyes," she said. "Get the hell out of Nashville while you still can."
AnnieLee swallowed. "Pardon me?" she gasped.
"It's a hard, rough business," said Ruthanna. "A tiny thing like you? You'll get chewed up and spit out like a hunk of gristle."..
"I'm hoping to get to play that character when we do a movie of the book, which we hope to do at some point," Parton said.

He was writing so many, then he started to write with others. Now I think he's gone over the edge,I believe he will writ with anyone. His newest book coming is writing with Dolly Parton! Now, I have nothing against her or her music, but really! I think Patterson would write with anyone just to make a buck, which he really probably doesn't need He has no shame 😱
Just to make a buck? He has no shame? Really?
JP has been cranking out books singlehandedly for decades. Writing can be very lonely, and maybe he enjoys collaborating as another way to construct plots and characters.
It might have nothing to do with making more money .... Perhaps he likes to mentor writers and this is a good way to do that .... what an honor to be chosen, and what a great experience for an up and coming writer!

I'm hallfway through a used copy of SEE HOW THEY RUN by Patterson.
He wrote it in 1979 . It has somewhat of a historical slant and decribes a select group of people located around the globe who are plotting to repeat The Third Reich's holocaust and call it The Fourth Reich or Dachau Two.
Not a pleasant subject, but so far I'm hooked, probably due to Patterson's writing talent.
Our local Goodwill store always seems to have an impressive inventory of used books . The books are donated back to Goodwill when I'm finished with them.
Meanwhile, I'm now and always have been addicted to reading.
