If the item is something I really want, I'll pay full price. It may not be there when it goes on sale.

For example, I love most anything Grinch especially Jim Shore.

Sometimes there is just no compromise.

I'm just wondering why you posed this in the Beauty board? Were you thinking regarding makeup or skin or hair items?

Sometimes there is no compromise there, either.

So here's a question for you!

Would you rather:

1. pay full price for something you want

or

2. buy something else to be able to save 25%

???? Inquiring minds want to know!  TIA!

@justashopper   Do you mean just beauty/skincare or anything?

Pay full price for something I really want.  If I bought something else to save 25%, I'd always be thinking about the one I should have bought for full price.

Re: Would You Rather....

It depends on how much I love the item and how much the full price is. If I can afford the one I love, as in crazy about love, I'd buy at full price. If the item I love is unaffordable I have to pass. Just like GenXmuse, I don't buy items I don't care for just because they are reduced in price. If I like, not love, an item that's reduced I might buy it.

I pretty much research all I buy before I pull the trigger--especially if it is expensive---if I can find it on sale, I buy it, if not--I will wait and check  on it, a few times. My sofa is an example---found it at Overstock -----this was in May, 2021---for $2400. Filled all my needs,--- size, price, color, was in stock---but waited a bit and went back to  find it was on sale for $1200 - was in stock and with free shipping within 5 days! Turns out it was a pre-Memorial Day sale!!

It depends on what it is and how much I want/need it.

Recently, I bought a mattress for Queen short bed in our RV..  I wanted one with springs and a foam/ pillow topper.

They're more expensive than regular queen mattresses.  I found one on sale that was not my first choice, but it was $800 cheaper than the one I wanted.

I got the less expensive one.  I will only be sleeping on it part time.  It came and I am happy with it.

If it was for my bed at home, I would have purchased the expensive one.

Most of the cars I owned have been red.  I am not all that fond of red cars, but the deal on red was too good to pass up every time.

I sleep on either linen or 100% cotton percale sheets..  They're expensive, especially the linen.  I am worth it.  I will pay extra for what I want....I do wait for sales because it is not an immediate need.
