Re: WEN cleansing conditioner

Here's my experience. I started using WEN in September of 2009 and I had that flat, no life hair for about 3 months. I was almost ready to give up when something amazing happened, my hair started turning out great every time I shampooed. I didn't change what I was doing, however I think that my hair and scalp finally came back to normal. After decades of stripping my scalp with shampoo, it finally quit over producing oil thanks to shampooing with WEN. I always had dry hair and an oily scalp and I shampooed sometimes 2 times a day in the summer. I still shampoo every day with very few exceptions because I usually end up sweating do to working out, working or whatever each day. My hair is full, thick bouncy and full of life now and people say I have great hair.

Re: WEN cleansing conditioner

My tips

1 Your hair needs to be thoroughly soaking wet before applying Wen CC

2 If you hair is thick, then applying in sections works well.

3 You need to get the cleansing conditioner down to the scalp. Once you've applied it evenly, add a few splashes of water and then work it in well. Then comb ( you did detangle your hair before getting it wet, right) each section so make sure the hair is saturated. If you can't easily run a comb through, add more cleansing conditioner.

4 Massage well to loosen up the dirt and oils.

5 rinse well and repeat.

I'd also suggest watching the videos either on the chazdean. com website or on the Wen you tube channel.

Thanks for your response. I called QVC and they directed me to the actual WEN website where I emailed my questions/concerns. I bought a 4 pack of pomagranate, tea tree, sweet almond mint and lavendar. Gotten the same results with each of them.

I have already been doing everything you said. I have fairly thick brown hair that is medium to long....comes down to right about my arm pits to give you an exact idea. Smiley Happy I have used differing amounts as I've been trying to figure this problem out, but for the most part have used 10-12 pumps each time I wash and I wash twice. I rinse thoroughly. As I said, this is just strange. I have been so frustrated and tempted to send it back, but I know how much better it is for your hair than regular shampoo and just kept working with it hoping I could figure something out.

It was interesting in reading through the reviews on QVC. Most of them were positive, however the ones that weren't were describing the same issue as me, so at least I know this is happening with other people as well. So strange how it could give such differing results. Maybe it's just not meant for everyone.

By the way, no clue what the first comment meant.

Make sure your whole scalp and hair are covered in product. It should feel rich and creamy. I comb it through. I also comb while rinsing. I really believe enough product usage is important to a good cleans and also what the other poster said, cleanse, rinse and repeat which is what I do. I have very long hair medium thickness and I need 12 pumps on 4 sides of my head plus another 12 for my length. I stick my head quickly under the water to get it really wet and start massaging in and WOW it creams up really thick then I comb and rake through and twist it in the hair with a "pushing" motion. My hair comes out squeaky clean. While I'm combing gobs are falling down because I make sure there is a lot in. I truly hope this helps because if it does work for you it's wonderful.

OK, sorry to hear you didn't have good results. May I suggest a couple more things before you send it back? I really believe once you get it right you'll be in love, it's worth a shot.

First, your hairs sounds very similar to mine... thick and the same length. I don't think you're using enough from the 16oz bottle. It's recommended 24-36 split and half, so try 16 and 16 since your hair is thick. That's about what I use from that size bottle. I apply most of it to my scalp and then work it in and down my hair. Add the splashes of water after you apply and really work it into a froth.

Second, the formulas. I don't like any of those formulas for my hair except Tea Tree and since our hair is similar the others may not work best for you either. Try using just Tea Tree for both cleanses. Or use POM for the first and Tea Tree for the second. POM froths up more so you might find it helps your hair feel cleaner.

Hope that helps, and hope that works Smiley Happy

Re: WEN cleansing conditioner

You didn't mention how long you're actually leaving it in your hair....it needs to stay In several minutes...you don't add it in and then rinse out immediately....you have thoroughly wet hair and scalp, then massage in, add water, massage a bit more and leave on several minutes before thoroughly rinsing out. Good luck.

Re: WEN cleansing conditioner

The reason WEN works is because it has the ability to break down oils and products in your hair so they are rinsed away. If you are one of the many people that doesn't cleanse your face with soap, you know it gets clean and your makeup is removed. Why? Because what are you are using to cleanse your face has the ability to break down oil, dirt and makeup and rinse it away. That's how WEN works with your hair. To be honest I don't even comb it through or do any of that. I wet my hair really well and then put the full amount for both cleanses on at once and foam it up with some water. I massage my scalp vigorously with my finger tips and scrub my hair, then I leave it in until I'm done showering and rinse well. Done.

Re: WEN cleansing conditioner

Thank you all for your tips and suggestions!! I think one thing I may not have been doing is adding enough water when I was working it in and massaging my scalp. Good to know other people have experienced a bit of a learning curve and had to go through a little trial and error. Hoping for the same great results I keep hearing from other people! Thanks!!

{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}This....

It's all about the water...use lots....get your scalp nice and wet, really soak your hair and as your adding the Wen to your hair, use more water to get it frothy...water is your friendSmiley Happy

I initially had a similar reaction but I'd just plopped the Wen on my head and expected it to turn me into a supermodel...You have to actually use it right and give it time to do it's magic. It's been 2 years since I started and I would never go back to shampoo ever!!

I find it works best if you do it in a sink where you can get good water pressure...My shower has really lousy water pressure, so I cleanse in the downstairs bathroom sink. It really helped me to love Wen because I was able to thoroughly wet my scalp and hair--something I couldn't do so well in the shower.

Hope that helps Smiley Happy

I agree with all of this. Despite what Chaz says, I don't believe there's any product that works for everyone. If you don't like it as a cleanser, you can use it as a conditioner, like Kcladyz suggested. If that doesn't work for you, you can return it.

I find this, however, to be a ridiculous statement: "How can a product that has been raved about as much as this on QVC and the inframercial be this bad."

Do you say that about everything you've had a bad experience with? "So many people like something, but it doesn't work for me, so the product itself must be bad." That's just silly.
