I have short/medium, layered, wavy to curly hair that I'm growing out. Since I like wearing it curly, what styling products and tips has anyone found helpful? I have used WEN products all the way from cleanser to oils to styling crème to mousse, etc. for 6 yrs.

Shanus, welcome to the Wen forum!!! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

You may want to have a look in the Wen 101 thread (post #6 on Wen Hair Care Tips, in the Curls & Waves section). There are a number of threads on that topicSmiley Happy

I use the Wen SC with a few sprays of the Wen VTS to my soaking wet hair and really twist it in good. Then I gently squeeze my hair and step out of the shower and add 4-8 pumps of the Wen Mousse and scrunch my hair a piece it into place and gently wrap an old tee shirt around my head to soak up some of the excess water while I put on my makeup. Then take off the tee shirt and scrunch again and let air dry. I think I'm getting better curls with the 613 SC then the others but they all work pretty good. My hair is layered and about chin length, fine to medium, naturally curly.

I swear that Chaz's method of pinning up hair at night is the best thing ever!! He sometimes shows how on-air, but there's videos too of him doing it... You basically just loop sections and clip in place with double-prong clips. The size of the hair loop determines how tight a curl/wave you get--the bigger the loop, the looser the curl/wave. The clips are dirt cheap at the drugstore or beauty store.

It takes a bit of time to get the hang of which way to loop your hair so that it falls right when you unpin it...but learning anything new takes time--I know I didn't just grab a curling iron and get fab hair the first time I tried it.lol

What's cool too, if you want soft springy curls, you can use a little 613 mousse and oil mixed together and worked through your dry hair before pinning it up. IMHO, that creates the softest, bounciest but best-holding curls I've ever seen. Smiley Happy

Hey chickenmoo! I have done the pincurls the last 2 nights and WOWZA! once you get the hang of the pincurls and getting them right (which is frustrating at first) but practice makes perfect Smiley Happy I'm a work in progress but i definitely see this being a staple in my hair routine! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

Shellbell that's awesome--congrats!!!! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

It's a bit tricky at first and you don't turnout right every time, but practice makes perfect--and your hair is going to *love* you for ditching the heat! In 2 years I've grown my hair from a bob to mid-back...good stuff!!

Have you tried swapping out the double prong clips for bobby pins? I use them and they work really well too--some people say they leave ridges though, but I just stick em in there and haven't had a problem.lol

You go girl!

Hey! i actually started with the bobby pins and got frustrated and went to the clips but quickly realized sleeping with the clips in wasn't too comfy lol when i did it with the bobby pins sleeping was perfectly fine! and i got a satin pillowcase (tip from the wen forum) and when i wake up my hair is pretty much just like it was when i laid down and i do toss and turn so that was amazing to me! So now i have to practice the pincurls with the bobby pins Smiley Happy lol like i said i'm a work in progress but i'm determined! I think i'll pin them with the clips first and use the clip as a guide for my bobby pin Smiley Happy I'm excited! lol
