I'll be going to Ulta this weekend. I need to get a new foundation. I've been using Bare Minerals, which I do like! Powder foundation seems to cover well for me, looks more natural and it doesn't make my skin look dry, if I use a moisturizer before I put it on.

I was planning on getting another Bare Minerals, but is there a different powder foundation that you like? I love trying new things, and everyone on here seems to give such good advice!

I liked Smashbox Halo.  You dial up the amount you need.  I've switched to IT, but might go back and forth.  I Googled, and found out that Ulta has the Halo.  Good luck.

I also use BE powder too and love it. My suggestion is to get yourself one of the BE girls there and let them help you out. You'll be able to test the product  too. They know so much and I'm sure would love to help. And they know what is the newest and best one on the market. Sounds like fun!!!

I totally urge you to take a look at several brands. Depending on the calibur of the Ulta you shop the brands you look at will include: Lancome, Nars, Mally, Tarte, IT, Pur Minerals, Laura Geller, Smashbox, Becca, Urban Decay, Too Faced, Stila and a few more I can't think of off the top of my head.  

On my you must check out list are:

      . Laura Geller Double Take 

      This foundation has Laura's largest shade range and it's a very nice foundation

      which can be worn wet or dry. It's one of the few powder foundations which does

      actually look natural and nice when applied wet.

        . Lancome Dual Finish

         If for no other reason than this foundation has been a worldwide best seller for

        40 years.  It's a well earned reputation as it is a great powder foundation.  I

        always have a Dual Finish in my makeup case even if I'm swooning over

        something else at the moment.  Superb shades!

        . Urban Decay Nakeds

         Seems to attract a lot of attention in Ulta stores and sells well.  There's always

         someone checking it out and trying it on when I'm in an Ulta store.  It feels good,

         but I don't like the shades n my range on me. 

        . Pur Minerals 4-in-1

         One of the old school minerals.  I always liked it better the Bare Minerals. It

        applies smoothly matte.  There is no sheen and glow. You can give your

        complexion radiance by wearing a primer such as Laura Geller's Champagne or

         Ethereal Spackle.

@JuLee I have tryed lots of powder foundations & always go back to BareMinerals Original. It does have a more natural look. You may want to try Laura Geller's Balance n Brighten compact powder. I have, but it does not have (at least for me) a natural look. Maybe someone here can recommend a powder foundation that can compare.I haven't found one. Their are many Liquids fountations that have a more natural light to med. coverage with a soft glow. Have you tried BM's Complexion Rescue?, it has more coverage than the usual tinted moisturizer that works well for normal or dry skin. It gives a nice natural glow and can be topped with Mineral Veil. You can even use it as a base for the original. I sometimes use the Complexion Rescue then use a light application of the original. I just bought a gorgeous liquid foundation but thats another story. lol! Good Luck      PS You may want to try Pur Minerals (forgot to mention) Its a compact powder, I think that is the closet to BM that I have tried that looks fairly natural.

Yet it still only comes in 9 shades compared to the 30 shades that BE comes in. I'm very glad she's expanded from 5 shades, but Laura Geller still leaves many women out

For me, it's too little, too late and I'll stick with brands that included me from the beginning and didn't name the Medium shade of foundation Regular, which is the original name of the Medium-toned Balance and Brighten.

It's been Laura Geller's Balance & Brighten for me since in was introduced! Used Medium when that's the only shade she offered, switched to Fair when it became available. I did a brief foray into Physicians Formula--it was OK, might even go back to it if the time comes I can no longer afford B & B. I also tried IT Cosmetics 1st powder foundation...can't recall the name...beautiful coverage, great color match, but after a few hours it separated into little patches on and around my nose. That was with & without primer. I went back to B & B in a hurry!

I was using L'Oreal true match liquid foundation but I have switched over to the true match powder. It covers well and looks nice & natural. I now only use the liquid foundation for big events like weddings etc.

Agree with Trixx re: checking out Lancôme Dual Finish powder foundation (not all Ulta carry entire Lancôme line) and the Urban Decay Naked Skin powder foundation. Both come with puff or a sponge for application. I use a kabuki brush.

Ulta last month had a half off price on the Urban Decay Naked Skin powder foundation. I ended getting a winter shade (for me). I came home, tried it in natural lighting (the sun is rarely seen in February here) and it was slightly darker than I expected. Had to wait till it came back into stock and I purchased the Medium Light Neutral and returned the Medium Neutral w/o a problem -- within 60 days & receipt needed.

Salesclerk asked if it was used and I said, "Gently." A brush doesn't make as much if an indent as a sponge or puff might.

So you might want to visit on a sunny day.
