Re: Paging Devita SPF users......

Thanks ProductGuy,

Now I'm worried because I ordered the Devita from Vitacost this morning!

I checked out the Cotz that you're using. Is yours tinted? The only one I found that isn't is the sensitive skin type which looks great in terms of protection- 20% zinc oxide- but reviews on Amazon say it's kind of greasy...

What's your experience? And your skin type?

Re: Paging Devita SPF users......

I don't know if this will shed any more light...I haven't used it on my face yet. I was wondering about the balling up, too. I tried Cereve and that was useless as far as pilling.

But Devita doesn't pill at all on my arms & chest. I would imagine that if you didn't use any other type moisturizer on your face, that it would work the same (not pilling.)

Actually, since it has those moiturizing things already in, if I were going to use it on my face, I don't think I'd put anything else on (save for the Devita vit. C.)

Re: Paging Devita SPF users......

The COTZ I use is tinted. Out of the tube, it is scary dark, but when I put it on, I don't see it at all. I don't think it provides coverage; it just doesn't look white. It's a very matte finish. It's not what I'd call greasy. It's that silicone feel like primers have. I lot of products make me oily. Men have more oil in their skin anyway. And with 20% thicker skin than women (not talking emotionally here) some products that get raves just sit on my skin and feel awful.

As for the DeVita pilling, I do put it over a vitamin C serum, but not theirs. I've tried it over two different ones: CSS Phloretin Serum (a Skinceuticals dupe) and NCN's Vitamin C+.

The only way I could avoid the pilling was to put on much more of the DeVita than I cared to. Then it was just too much moisturizer. I'll try it on my arms someday and see what happens.

I think that's my problem -- too many layers go on even before the sunscreen. (Not my problem with DeVita -- haven't tried it, but it occurs with some of my other products.)

IDEALLY I'd like a high zinc sunscreen that won't ball up over my Vit C, and Skinn Rejen Serums (which are lotion-y), THEN add the Supergoop CC cream (20%) zinc as my foundation. May have to try Devita and see.

By the way, myshell and I (and I think someone else?) ordered Babo Botanicals sunscreen (right up there in the zinc percentage). She's received hers and started a thread if anyone is interested.

Re: Paging Devita SPF users......

Thanks to all for the input.

Harpa, I do use a serum first and I think perhaps when I first started using Devita I wasn't using anything underneath..But you're right, I think it's plenty moisturizing on its own. If it doesn't work out I suppose I'll use it on my arms...

ProductGuy, the Cotz sounds nice! I seem to be ridiculously obsessed with using a sunscreen that has antioxidants, etc. in it, which is probably silly as the serum I use is an antioxidant serum so probably redundant...I loved that Devita so much I am forever searching for its equal!

MarenSeattle, I did go through a couple of tubes of Babo; not bad! But ultimately too sticky for me and especially in the summer.

This is what I'm currently using and it's not bad! A bit sticky but not as much as I found the Babo to be..

Re: Paging Devita SPF users......

I bought my Facial Devita Moisturizer SPF 30 maybe 4-6 weeks ago from Lucky Vitamin (also great pricing) and apply it over my serums and a moisturizer with no balling issues. And I have sure had other products ball up on me. But this latest Devita has been complaint free. Although Devita is moisturizing, I still need to use my own moisturizer underneath - very dry skin so need all the layers possible to hydrate it (and keep it that way throughout the whole day)

Devita also makes a tinted version of their Facial Sunscreen - same exact formula, just with a tint. I'd like to try it in my next order.

Re: Paging Devita SPF users......

I bought the solar body a few weeks back and just started using it. I think its a nice cream and I dont get any balling effect on my arms and legs. I dont have the face version but will try the body one on my face at some point. Right now I am using another brand that I had for the face. I would be interested in trying the tinted version for the face next time.
