I agree with @SilleeMee. Order the 4% hydroquinone from All Day Chemist. While you're waiting on your order to arrive, purchase a 2% OTC hydroquinone product at Walmart or somewhere locally.

@Shelbelle wrote:Hydroquinone 4% RX is still the one that derm docs prescribe.
@Shelbelle Definitely the only proven (gold standard by derms) to remove dark spots and melasma. Sometimes the 4% can be combined with Retin A at night for extra absorption into the skin and a better result like the OBAGI system I use. It's very important when using these products that a sunscreen be used every morning...going outdoors or not.

How do you like this? Does is really work? I tried a product and it faded the large brown spot on the side of my face very, very little. And it had a very unpleasant side affect -- the spot is now like leather! So, so, dry! Nothing softens it! I even asked my derm -- well 2 derms about it and they would not suggest anything. I wish I had just left it alone!!!!

You dont use it forever, use it twice a day for 3 months, it should work by then, then you stop. There may be a few websites where you can find it online with no RX.

@AngelPuppy1 I know you have sensitive skin...try lactic acid.
Years ago, this board was all abuzz about using powdered milk for facial cleansing. I'd be using this if not for the smell of the powdered milk.
Also, there was a doctor (I forget who by now) who prescribed using soy milk to clear up spots. Well, it's milk again!
Look up the benefits of lactic acid: lactic-acid-skin-care

Great results with Ambi cream, get it on Amazon. They make products for face and body. My husband uses it on age spots on his hands, and the spots are gone.

I had one brown spot and two different products removed it.
The first was Love My Skin Dark Spot Corrector. I stopped using it and the dark spot returned. It is right on my cheek about half the size of a pea.
I then started using retinol and this also removed the spot. I've used retinol for a year, a few days a week, and the spot is no longer there.
Use the latter if you can tolerate it.

Ambi Fade Cream worked for me. You must use it regularly. I used their soap as well. It's inexpensive and it's good.

Hydroquinone is a type of skin bleach. When you use it your brown spots will fade but then when you stop using it the spots will return. It's a neverending cycle of money spent and time wasted. One day under the sun and 'boom there it is'.

Maybe not, I faded a huge melasma on my cheek in 1997 in 3 mos and it has yet to return.
