Okay, One More False Eyelash Question

I got my false eyelashes yesterday. Now, if I want to trim them, do I trim them in an oval or just go straight across? Should some of them be longer than the others? Please advise. Also, do I put the glue on the eyelash then put them on or is there a better way? As you can tell, I am a novice at this, Thank you so much!  (I'll wait until I hear back before I try this)., lol.

Re: Okay, One More False Eyelash Question

I'd try them on before you trim them.  Just for practice, just to get used to them before you leave the house.  Also, you will have more to hang on to.  It won't work the first time.   then you will want to trim the width.  I would never trim the length.  Get a good magnifing mirror.  Be patient.  Slow but sure.  I am 73, worn them every day since I was 18.  I can whip them on faster than you can say mascara.  Have fun!

Re: Okay, One More False Eyelash Question

I'm unable now to read other poster - don't trim?  The lashes I buy are much longer than my eye - so I'd have flutter beyond looking silly.    Hold one lash and snip the outer end of the lash down to where it fits the length of your eye lid.  For me and the lashes I use - I snip off way more than a quarter of an inch.  Don't snip the end that will be close to your nose.

Do that to both lashes - right and left.

Then when length is good - take a toothpick - put a puddle of glue on a tissue and apply glue to lash band - and then with tweezers hold lash until glue gets slightly sticky. -  gently put lash on one eye - starting in the middle of band with middle of your eye.  Press ends of lash band down on to your eyelid.

It does take practice - practice and again.

Re: Okay, One More False Eyelash Question

I agree with @fthunt. Make sure to measure them by putting them on your eye prior to putting glue on the lash, and always cut the outside of the lash. I have trimmed Lashes before that I thought were too long and the lashes went almost above my eyebrows when I opened my eyes.

I always save even the part I cut off as I can use them as an "accent" when I don't want to add a full lash. Just a suggestion. It does take some practice. Letting the glue get tacky before you apply is a must also.

Re: Okay, One More False Eyelash Question

Glue comes with the lashes right? What do you do if you run out of glue and lashes look good still? Is lash glue sold separately? I've never worn them either so this thread, pardon the pun is an 'eye opener'.

Glue - years ago Merrill Norman sold lashes and glue boxed together - not so much any more.  You can buy lash products on Amazon or a drug store .  Glue= = seperate purchase. (  Like your bun - eye opener!)

Re: Okay, One More False Eyelash Question

Ladies, thank you so very much for all of the helpful hints and information. You were so right about it will just take practice. I was very surprised that putting on the glue to the lashes was so easy and mess-free. I used the Kiss adhensive in the small white bottle. That was the easy part. I trimmed the outer edge on each of them and guessed pretty closely where to cut. I was proud that I didn't completely ruin them the first time , lol. The only tricky part for me was the correct placement of the lashes. I kept getting them to close to my inner eye. So, I will practice, practice, practice until I am a pro. Again, thank you all for the great advice. It really was invaluable. Answer to a previous poster: I had to buy the glue as an extra purchase.

Re: Okay, One More False Eyelash Question

I buy mini Ardell lashes number 110.  I cut them in half and I trim the length with a manicure scissors. Now I have been doing this for 30 years and I am quite proficient in trimming them. I want volume as opposed to length.  I do not trim them straight across.  I just do some light trimming.  I put the glue on the band of the eyelash then place them as close to me natural eyelashes as possible so they are as one.

@JustJazzmom

Walgreens as well as sephora sell eyelash glue called Duo.  Duo is better than eyelash glue that comes with package.
