Thank you for the info about Keppra.  I will be talking to my dr about it as soon as possible.  I don't know what I'd do without Neurotin but I'm all for a medication that will help without the brain fog!

I have no idea if it would work for you, @monicakm , but there has been some research on the issue.  Your neurologist will know best.  And as you no doubt already know from experience, even if the Keppra might help with your pain and brain fog, the transition from one drug to another can be difficult in itself.  Fingers crossed that you find the relief you so need and deserve.

Re: Off Topic...Numb Finger Tips

Please go to your doctor and get a definitive diagnosis. I had numbness due to carpel tunnel syndrome. It can be a number of things causing it. Don't fool around. It could become permanent and/or be an indication of a serious condition. You don't want to lose sensation through your fingertips, because that's where the majority of our sense of touch comes from.

Re: Off Topic...Numb Finger Tips

Are you diabetic? My fingertips were numb from undiagnosed diabetes in 2009. I began taking Metformin and the numbness more or less went away. I also have Carpal Tunnel Stndrome and receive steroid injections 2-3 times yearly by a pain management specialist. It is painful but really works for me. Good luck! I had ulnar neuropathy in the elbow region that caused tip numbness for about 4-6 weeks. Exercise helped resolve that issue.

Re: Off Topic...Numb Finger Tips

@monicakm I currently suffer with peripheral neuropathy now for 2 1/2 years. I have numbness and tingling in my toes which goes up my legs, fingers that go up my arms, and in my face located in my cheeks, chin, and nose. Cold is very painful however most days I do not feel my limbs. My rheumatologist felt I had RA 8 years ago due to a high RA factor. Now they feel I have Sjogrens disease which caused my neuropathy. They want to perform a small fiber tissue test to confirm. But it has been very overwhelming to deal with. I’m not huge into medications because my father who has a sever auto immune condition developed lymphoma due to his meds. My mother also has several auto immune issues so I guess it’s in my genes. I tried gabapentin which gave me headaches and now on Cymbalta which actually allows me to feel my fingers and toes some days which is a miracle I can cry. I’m also now on Plaquenil to help with the Sjogrens. I say follow up with the doctor to find out. Unfortunately some tests don’t provide the definitive answer to my type of conditions and they work with the symptoms which is frustrating. All I can say is find out or keep trying.
