Ask your neurologist for a referral to occupational therapy for several sessions.
I was very skeptical, but she was a store of information, coping mechanisms and tools. Safety can be a concern too.
If bracing would help, then you be sent to physical therapy.

Ohh, I've read about that syndrome when researching my numb fingers. My husband came up with the idea of wearing gloves. It really helps when you're not doing anything but I can't maintain a house with gloves on. When he first thought of gloves, he went out to his work truck and brought me a pair of brown, heavy work gloves! LOL First, eww... BROWN and second they were heavy and not at all girly but he got brownie points for trying
I quickly ordered a pair of silk gloves in blush and a pair of satin in ivory. I do have diabetes but my Dr said he didn't think that was the cause since my A1C numbers stay in the 6 range. Strangely enough they are much better today
I had a cortisone shot in my knee yesterday (not something I recommend!!!) but that shouldn't do anything for my fingers, I wouldn't think.

I will most definitely give those a try! I do take B12 but probably not enough. I was taking Acetyl L-Carnitine but have run out. Again, I was following the bottle's dosage. My mother always tells me to take more! LOL

Yes, I have. I also have MS so that's a consideration. I have upper back and arm problems from time to time. That's a consideration but my Dr said it would most likely be the ring and pinky fingers affected if it was due to shoulder pain. Oh the Golden Years. At least I was smart enough to stay out of the sun so my 61 year old skin looks loverly
Actually I've always hated the heat/sun! I really think I'm allergic to it LOL

I'm so sorry
I can't even imagine but kuddos to YOU for beating the cancer beast!!!
I hate to have to use tin foil. It feels like sharp knives are poking and cutting my fingers. Clumsy...YES. I've recently gotten rid of all glass glasses. A few years ago I got rid of all my heavy plates and now have all Corelle dishes. Dropping things is a new way of life now.

monicakm, it's a long story, but I started getting tingling sensation in my fingers 19 years ago next month. I had done data entry for 32 years and thought that I had carpal tunnel.
My ds is a Chiro & physical therapist & he recommended that I go to a Chiro. After going 3x a week for 3 weeks I could barely walk, he told me to go to a neurologist asap as he thought that I had Guillien Barre' (sp)? syndrome as I had many of the symptoms. I saw a neurologist and he said that I did have GBS. Then about 3 months later, I woke up completely paralyzed except for my big toes. Scared my DH & me to death.
I went to another neurologist in my hometown as the other one was in Syria getting married & he said that I have CIDP which my ds thought I had, but didn't want to tell me in case he was wrong.
I have trouble keying on my tablet and holding on to things, but after being bed/wheel chair bound for 5-6 months I can still lead a normal life. I get IVIG Infusions every 8 weeks and they are a God send for me. Hot weather bothers me because my fingers always feel like they are on fire. Gloves are my saving grace in the winter time here in S. WI.
Good luck with your symptoms. I have had lots of PT & OT over the years.
ETA: Yes, dropping things is a new way of life and we only use Corelle dishes as they are light weight for me to handle. CIDP is an off shoot of MS.

@LindaSal My doctor told me to wear mittens because they compress the fingers together and generate more heat which increases blood flow. In the winter I always wear mittens to the grocery and it does help when you need something from those upright freezers. Raynauds can be difficult and painful.

@monicakm I have numbness in both feet and I was told it was due to arthritis. Actually, the numbness is in the toes and parts of the foot. Every time I turn around it is something so I go with the flow not that I like it. lol I can understand that you would have difficulty picking things up or holding. I hope you can get some relief and you have taken anti-inflammatory drugs? Wishing you the best.

I've been on Neurontin for years for nerve pain due to MS...2 400s/day. It was my neuro that increased it to FIVE a day
I've never pushed it that much tho. I feel like a blooming idiot with 4 per day. Not nice to one's cognitive abilities.

I do wear a brace on my right hand (mostly) at night. If I don't, it and my hand will become very painful. Problem with me is being so overly sensitive to medications. Always have been and the older I get, the more intolerant to them I become. What I need the most are anti-inflammatories but they make my legs, ankles and feet swell to the point that it's just not worth it. Natural anti-inflammatories have the same effect.
Feeling GREAT today! Knee that I got a cortisone injection in yesterday is better but I'm hoping to see even more improvement by tomorrow. Keeping fingers crossed! I thought an injection in the knee would just keep the cortisone in that area but apparently no and that's concerning since I'm diabetic. Just checked my bs number and it was 103 so that's a relief.
