For years I have on the been on the impossible hunt to find a lipstick that is truly my lips but better. They are either too brown, pink or just looks blah on me! Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated! It would be nice to find a drugstore one but I hate that you have to try it at home and return it if it doesn't work!! Help.....

@jobiz

I wish you had given us your exact coloring ........  nevertheless, have I got a good one for you to try !!

It's  Rimmel Lasting Finish Color Rush ..... it's like a clear lip balm and a long lasting lipstick had a baby ... this would be it .... sheer and lasts longer than most .... and the best part?   Five bucks at Walmart!     I tried 5 different colors and regularly wear 4 of them.

My favorite is a soft rosy coral shade called Sun Kissed and it was so good that I ended up purchasing 6 on Ebay when Walmart was temporarily out!   (second from right in photo)

The best nude ever that I would recommend for you is called Not An Illusion.   (Farthest right in photo)

For five bucks, it's definitely worth a try!

You are all so sweet to help. FYI. I have brown hair and eyes with a light to medium skin tone.  Just looking for an everyday lipstick! Thanks

Perhaps you should try a department store or somewere they have those little testers that you can try.  Avon used to have them ... don't know if they still do.

If I happen to buy a lipstick that isn't just right ... I can usually put a bit of shimmer or lipgloss over it - and the color works.

My problem has been that I find a perfect color ... and then it's discontinued.

Maybelline Wine on Ice was perfect.  Estee Lauder Rose Gold was perfect.  Physicians Formula shade I can't remember ... I wore for years.  I found a perfect color in Italy in 2010 ... and lost it on the way back to the US!

Now - I'm using some Avon lipstick ... I bought five of them.  Good move since it's no longer available.  But, I won't have to worry about lipstick for another year or so.  I have enough to last me until then.

@jobiz I also love "Jane Iredale's" make-up. You might want to go to her website and there is a quiz about skintone and then it will tell you colors to use. Not that you have to buy from there but it might help you with picking out a color.

Bobbi Brown is FAMOUS for natural colored nude lipsticks. Her hint is to match the shade to the color of your inner lip. If you go to a BB counter, the MUA can help you find an exact match....Yes, not at a drugstore price, but once you find that perfect shade (I've worn same one for 7 yrs. as my everybday "go to" color), you save a small fortune purchasing others and stuffing them to the back of the drawer.

I would stay away from ones that have chemicals. Organic is best or Burts Bees. ???

If we all had the same opinion or everyone was the same. the world would be a very boring place!

I am a cosmetics snob and usually buy only higher end makeup, but I recently tried (and liked) the Revlon lipstick "Toast of New York," (creme #325) part of the super-lustrous line (not frosty or shiny). This is a pretty rose-brown shade which can be found at Walgreens and other drugstores.
