I love Laura Geller and her products.  She is a fantastic make-up artist.  However, I agreed 100% with all of you on the glitter, shimmer, shine, sparkle, etc.  I use many, many of Laura's products, and even use her dimond dust highlighter and love her blush. That is as far as the glitter and shimmer goes for me.  She must be trying to appeal to the younger crowd.  As with everything else, this phase will pass and normal makeup will return.  And, yes, I do believe she does know better.  Laura is keeping her brand flowing with the trends.  Just choose your makeup wisely.

@CRAZYCATLADY  .....and p l e a s e...if you must accent with shimmer, choose just one area. 😜

I laughed as soon as I saw this post this morning, because I was watching the Laura Geller show as well and had all of the same thoughts!!

I am 32 years old and I feel leaps and bounds ahead of my time, I cannot stand the dewy, highlighter, shimmer look that is currently on trend and especially in women my age. I am a matte makeup/powder person through and through.

My husband walked through the living room as I was watching last night and they were showing a before & after on one of the models, and he said “100% she looked way better in the before picture, the after is scary and greasy looking”.

I do love a lot of her makeup but I stay away from anything with highlight or glow in it, just not for me at all and I rarely like it on anyone that I see as well.

@Smc09  My husband who rarely even walks through the room if QVC is on, caught a glance of the Geller models and thought they were wearing Crisco oil or some cleansing oil. He couldn’t believe it!!!

I really like Laura Geller too, and like some of her products, but come on it's summer and most of us are looking to simplify our routines and using less makeup and lighter makeup this time of year......

@Shanus

I gave up on glitter/shimmer in my late 20s.

At 67, I have few wrinkles and great skin (thanks to my mother's good genes and skincare products).

Anytime I stray past my minimal makeup, I end up wishing I hadn't.  No foundation makes me look better....ever.

I've tried too many things and ended up giving them away.

Full makeup = Blush, mascara, a little matte highlight on my eyelids and lipstick.  Around the house, just blush and sheer lipstick (retired!).

I'd rather someone see my face than see my makeup.  It's not perfect, but it's me!

@Shanus I use a lot of Josie Maran’s products, I have super dry skin so it never sits on my skin and looks oily. Well when I’m watching her shows, my husband will watch a minute or two if he is in the house and he says EVERY SINGLE TIME, she just looks greasy! Like she hasn’t showered in days Smiley Very Happy

So fortunately I am not a fan of the dewy look, because he cannot stand it lol

And thank goodness there are a variety of beauty products out there to provide everyone's wants and needs.   I'm 69,  prefer a dewy look since I live at high altitude with very dry skin.  Powders make me look like a skeleton.    So don't assume that everyone looks awful with illumination.   I have never liked Laura's powder makeup but I adore  Becca.

Re: LAURA GELLER....TOO MUCH SHINE & GLITTER

I agree super shine is a trend -- which will fade as all trends do, but I have a hunch that if Laura were still in control of her brand in terms of the products developed and sent out to retail she would have shine with reason.  Laura always had some highlighting products in her line (Baked Vanila and Portofino for the face, and her body glows Tahitian and Honey), but these products could be applied subtly which in my opinion is the best way to highlight whether one is 19 or 79.  I'm prety adept at applying makeup and I am finding that some of these new highlighters can't be made subtle no matter how light a hand and little product is used.

@Witchy Woman  I think we’re sisters. My Mom had severe adult acne and instead of seeking medical help, covered it (suffocated it) w/ they then called pancake makeup. She still does that. It turned me off visible makeup & started my quest to become a makeup artist & learn about skincare. I thank her for that. Instead I used the best skincare available...in the end the cost is less than drawers of makeup.

I can now only wear tinted moisturizer, minimal eye makeup, lip liner/lipstick/gloss & lipstick as blush or Bobbi Brown pot rouge. Mom’s still always after me to add some makeup...any color! She used to chase me w/ her tube of Revlon Hot Coral lipstick. I could run faster.

@Smc09. I use argan or jojoba oils as well. They’re dry oils and do absorb. Too many vendors are dipping into jars and over-greasing themselves....wasteful since the skin can only absorb so much and the rest sits on the surface looking like an oil slick. Lol

@Smc09  It’s called Body “Butter” with good reason.
