Wen kids has no menthol and there are a few others in the line that don't too, I think. You can go on Chaz's site and find answers there. They even do live chat.
Only the kids line is menthol free. Some of us were hoping that BGT would be menthol free when we heard it would be rice based but that isn't the case.

If I still felt it hours later, I would stop using it. Even when I used Denorex shampoo a few times, I never felt the menthol after the shower. You might consider returning it and trying the WEN kids formula, which has no menthol.

I agree.
Personally, I do not like menthol on my scalp- I do not like the tingling and I really don't like it as an ingredient for skincare or scalp. Some people are more sensitive to it then others and personally I never got use to it and felt tingling every time I used it, although never all day or even past when I used it in the shower.

If only a spot kept tingling and it felt rough, you may have a skin issue there - maybe a place you scratched or a patch of dry skin. If you put more on, rinsed again and the tingling went away, I would say try it again, making sure to massage and use a wide tooth comb as your rinse.
There are some that are sensitive to the menthol, but a lot find it helps to clean and stimulate the scalp. That's something you will have to decide for yourself. It's supposed to tingle while it's on, then go away once dry. If it is more of an it ch or burn, definitely stop.
