Depending on the product(s) (primers, etc.) you use as a base before you put on foundation you will get different results. You can also mix foundations with primers and moisturizers to adjust consistancy of the foundation.  Try experimenting, it all boils down to personal preference and skin type and skin sensitivity.  Have fun playing.

@txredbird Thank you,  you're right about mixing; I did mix SKINN to make the color lighter and found a pretty good match that way.Cat Very Happy

Anyone try La Mer or Giorgio Armani foundations? They are top rated and feel like silk?

I also look better without foundation. Everything you said also. I've been told I look younger without makeup, that's funny for a blue eyed, red head, with freckles.

LOL, I'm Irish- not from Ireland but  large part of my DNA is...golden blonde/brunette hair, green eyes, freckles, light skin but can tan pretty well if allowed- (the black Irish from Iberian Penisula; Portugal/Spain)

I don't mind at all being younger- but don't want to look cakey, etc., plus, I even had an East Coast rep from Perricone say she really didn't want to sell me the many things I had on the counter from a regular sales person from the store or the makeup from another line because she said I had great skin, don't cover it.  I thought she was nuts. She said, I'll take your $1,275, if you insist, but please don't. So, I said God Bless You, and ran from the store before my purse started to get itchy.

really, I don't know what I was thinking, I never spend that much at a time or even half, I'm smarter than that, but that day I was almost a fool even without her speaking up to spend that kind of money without at least getting samples, good golly!Cat Very Happy

@skittles2  That really is the best way to test products out is in the store.  You can select your shade or two shades to be safe and try out the regular or oil free to see which one you like better by Laura M.  Have fun.  Cat Very Happy

Hi Skittle. At 68, I don't need full coverage FOUNDATION either. If you've cared for your skin, why be tempted to cover it up w/ heavy makeup? After my SERUM, moisturizer & SUNSCREEN, I use a tinted moisturizer. If any areas (usually under my eyes & around my nose) need extra attention, I add a drop of concealer. I've always felt women look younger w/ more natural makeup and less of it....IF they feel comfortable "in" their skin. No one has perfect airbrushed skin. When I see someone w/ every freckle, pore, dark spot covered w/ caked on makeup, it just makes me wonder what else they're covering up.

@Shanus Thank you, makes perfect sense. I'm wondering if most full foundations will cause the unwanted effects I spoke of...I did wear them yrs ago even though I didn't need them, but  a lot of women did for awhile, and I also liked the look, either way was ok with my skin. Now not so much with full foundation and probably most tinted moisturizers.  I do feel very comfortable in my skin, actually better than with something on beside skincare and a little blush if needed, I do have naturally blushed skin so I can overdo if I use blush on a natural flush day.Cat Very Happy

If you don't know what works for you, I recommend not purchasing anything from QVC. Unless you live in a rural area where it's very difficult, I recommend going out to a local store, be it a department store, a Sephora, or an Ulta and talk to someone there. That will open you up to more brands and shades. Get a few recommendations, try something on in the store and/or take home samples. Once you decide which foundation to buy, see if it's available at QVC and if they have a deal, like the foundation AND a brush for the same price as the foundation elsewhere and then pick up your color here. For me, QVC almost never has the shade that works for me, even if the brand makes one, so I don't buy foundations from QVC.

If you're really not sure, try out some drugstore foundations, too. It doesn't sound like foundation is really important to you, so why spend a lot of money on it? Some drugstore foundations are really good.

If you want a dewy look, you can get any foundation to give you a luminous glow by mixing it with a small drop of something like L'Oreal Magic Lumi Primer or Becca Backlight Priming Filter.

@ChynnaBlue Thank you, you're right about not going straight to QVC, it's a pain and $ money to find out what doesn't work. I have both Ulta & Sephora near me.  Didn't think about trying a tinited misturizer from drugstore, I know Rite Aid used to let you return beauty items, hopefully they still do, maybe Target does as well. But, i think tring them on is better and wearing them home, getting sample too.

The primer are probable key too. When I wore foundation or tinted moisturizer I usually forgot that step. I'd go straight from skincare to base. That's another reason I like to go natral- the less I have to forget and make something look bad.

I wouldn't wear whatever I choose everyday, probably not once a week...maybe a few times a month.  I need to rethink the cost of whatever I choose now that I think of it.

I also used By Terry, and Dior, which I really liked, again, that was a few yrs ago. But really no sense spending that kind of $$ if I'm not going to wear it often because it oxidizes.

@skittles2  I, too, would recommend Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer -- especially since you mentioned you don't want full coverage.  It still gives a bit more coverage than some tinted moisturizers, though.  I use the "regular" version.  I don't find it to be "dewy," but it does give a nice moisturized look, if that makes sense.  I've also tried the "illuminating" version, too, and I thought it was nice, but it had more "sheen" in the sunlight than what I would like.  It would be nice to use above the cheekbones or some other area, but I didn't like it applied all over.  JMO

Also, Sephora has a 1 oz travel size available for $22 (full size is 1.7 oz, and $44), but only in the "light" and "sand" shades.  HTH!

@skyblue  I had a tiny sample tube of Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation, and it really did have a silky feel to it.  It was a very light consistency, but provided nice coverage (not heavy, but more coverage than a tinted moisturizer, if I'm remembering correctly).
