Re: Do You Really Need A Toner?

I don't use one and don't think a toner is necessary, if you are using water to rinse off the cleanser. If you are using cold cream and want to remove it with toner, that probably works too.

Re: Do You Really Need A Toner?

NickNack, I haven't read all the answers. I've always used toners 1) to remove any cleanser I didn't rinse off; 2) remove any traces of MU left-over; 3) work to keep my pores cleaned and closed down.

If my skin is sensitive I use Neutrogena's Alcohol Free toner. Korres makes a great toner if you have combo/oily skin. It contains pomegranate and other good stuff for pores and skin conditioners and anti-inflammatories.

I bet if you look at Paula's ingredients you'll find all good stuff. Toners are not expensive but I think they are an important step in skin care. I've used them for the last 40 years.

Re: Do You Really Need A Toner?

When I decided I wanted to redo and update my skin care routine 6 months ago, I read this info on Paula's site and, for me, found it highly helpful in making my choices. My routine includes products other than Paula's, but I do respect her advice and think that it is helpful.

eta: NickNack, did you research what Paula wrote about the Skin Recovery Toner. She explains who it's for, what it does. There is a list of ingredients which she identifies.......

What makes this product unique?
Skin Recovery Enriched Calming Toner has a richer consistency than any other toner you may have tried (save for Paula's Choice Resist Advanced Replenishing Toner). Its milky texture is loaded with skin-protecting antioxidants, essential lipids, cell-communicating ingredients and restorative skin-identical ingredients to leave your skin feeling silky-smooth and better able to recover from damage. Skin Recovery Enriched Calming Toner delivers key ingredients which are vital to reviving skin's intercellular matrix to help eliminate dry, flaky skin as it soothes redness and sensitivity. When used after cleansing, it helps skin restore and repair itself so it can look and act younger. It also works to remove last traces of makeup.

This product is 100% fragrance- and colorant-free.

Who is this product for?
Skin Recovery Enriched Calming Toner is best for dry to very dry skin, extremely sun-damaged skin, or those dealing with eczema or rosacea.

Re: Do You Really Need A Toner?

Thanks everyone. I've gotten some really good replies but still haven't made up my mind. If I buy one it will be Paula's Choice Skin Recovery Toner. That's the one I've been using the samples of and really enjoying. I would buy it while it's 25% off on her website. Her shipping charges are so reasonable, too. I've always ordered with free shipping, but the shipping on the toner is just $2.76.

Re: Do You Really Need A Toner?

I just couldn't stop thinking about the toner, so I ordered the PC Skin Recovery Toner. I've really enjoyed using the samples. Thanks everyone for your feedback. IrishRose, yes I did read that skin care routine article on Paula's website. Thanks for pointing it out to me. I missed your earlier post until just now as we were posting at the same time!

I don't think they are necessary either but Paula's are nice for soothing dry, irritated, chapped skin and adding additional moisture and good ingredients without the heaviness of a lotion or serum. The skin recovery one is my favorite too. Smiley Happy

Hope you like your purchase, NickNack! It's good to know that if not, it's refundable. But I've read good stuff about the Skin Recovery. Let us know what you think after using it for a few days. Smiley Happy

Re: Do You Really Need A Toner?

I use toner again after I saw what it took off from my mom's face after she cleansed it. Besides, the water in my place has lot of iron or something that stains my sink so I hope toner will get rid of any trace of the metal on my face after cleansing.

Re: Do You Really Need A Toner?

I know my makeup lasts a lot longer when I use one! I don't wear it much in the summer because of the heat.

You picked a good one. This has helped me with chapped, irritated skin over the colder months. My husband uses this as a moisturizer. He hates feeling anything on his face and this provides him with enough moisture without feeling it. Great ingredients.
