Re: ComPact 2020 – Meaningful May

@just bee  Seems to me you have stated your priority very well. In this case, it's not what's fair, it's not the dollars, it's being finished. Okay. Which is fastest, getting the replacement doors and getting a settlement, or getting a new fridge, or deciding to live with the one you have?

Furthermore, I'd say the amount of time means whichever takes up the least time in your head right this minute. Pick that one and then let it go and never give it another thought.

P.P.S. If you do decide on a new fridge, go ahead and donate the one you have or have Home Depot take it away. Somebody needs it. You don't need the double electric bills. You already let it go when you decided to buy a new one.

@just bee   I applaud you! "Stock up" is sales talk that translates to "buy more," or "give us your money now and then store our inventory at your house."

We should NEVER stock up. On anything. Okay, one spare for things you use consistently, and two if there's something you absolutely can't run out of for even a day. (Like Amstel Light or Two Buck Chuck or choose yours.)

But body wash? We may like that kind they're discontinuing today, but will we two years from now when you fish it out of a crammed cupboard? Is there a body wash famine? Are we pioneers, who have to wait for the stage coach to bring a new supply from out east? Are we expecting an invading horde of really dirty house guests? How many kinds of great body wash are there? How relatively cheap are they? How long do they last?

Besides, with a cupboard full, we never get that great feeling of needing a new bottle of body wash, and being able to pick something that looks just right, right then.

Didn't you start this whole thread (thank you) so we could all lean not to stock a zillion or so bottles of aging body wash?

Or are we expecting another wave of pandemic? 😄😷

Funny, but several weeks ago when I was looking for hand soap, none was available anywhere.  But just down the aisle from where hand soap usually was stocked, there were ample supplies of body wash.  In every store.

Um, don't people realize that their hands are part of their body?  We can't use body soap as a substitute for hand soap?

The mask of the day was Star Wars themed at the governor's daily briefing.

Interestingly, today was the announcement of when religious and other large gatherings could resume.  The Gov was very conscious to explain in detail that the places of worship information were "guidelines", whereas the other large venue gathering info were "directives".  I think he reiterated a couple of times that was because of the church/state division thing.  And he had been very happy that our places of worship had "decided" to adhere to his original "guidelines" about going to online services only.

I must have missed that little detail when this thing started...🤔

The more that refrigerator is moved in and out of the space it occupies, the greater the chance of more damage to it and everything around it.  The floor, the cabinetry, the granite countertop...

It'll be just our luck for the new doors to show up scratched.

All great points.  Besides, I have plenty right now.  And I just don't feel like buying anything that isn't 100% necessary.

My fantasy was to have one drawer in the bathroom.  Before the fire, I had the right side of the vanity -- the side with all the storage.  Now that we're back in the house, we've switched sides and I have the side of the vanity -- the left side -- that has one drawer.  And it's enough.

That's kinda cool.

The challenge is to keep it that way.  But if anybody can do it, you can.  You seem to have this 'only necessary buying' thing down better than most of us.  I think that's what I want, but I must not--subconsciously, at least--because I keep buying things I don't actually need.

If I were in your shoes, I'd have more problems getting used to the left side of the vanity than only one drawer.

But now I have slightly more counter space for my electric toothbrush.

Uh-oh.  BH is having someone saw off branches on our few remaining trees.  They're probably thinking it's the end because they saw what happened to the rest of our landscape.

I'll need to give them all a pep talk tonight...
