@geezerette wrote:Yes, I'm exactly the same. I do well for a few weeks and then I get a craving and if I can resist that, I'm good for a long time. I find that the cravings are actually better than the real thing! What I mean is that most often what I think I want "tastes" better in my imagination than when I finally eat it for real.
It's all mental, I know. I still can't rid myself of the idea that I'm missing out on what everybody else can have. The OG used to tell me to realize that the only thing I'm missing out on is good health. In my mind I know that, of course. It's also an emotional thing. And, to be truthful, it's boredom too.
It's just been tough to maintain any kind of motivation--for food or anything else, really. I know that compared to many I am very fortunate. I need to do a better job of reminding myself of that.😉
Same here. BH was mumbling that we've been in the house for three months and I still haven't unpacked my boxes. My get-up-and-go got up and went. Somewhere. No idea where.
All I know is this: My days off go by too quickly.
There is some lack of motivation. I've noticed that I'm not drinking enough water. I take two liters to work with me and barely touch them. I'm not drinking water when I'm home, either. I drank some yesterday because I donated blood, but I need to get into that habit again.
I have to remember that I'm usually thirsty, not hungry. I want water, I need water, but an Amstel Light is easier. And some critics compare it to water. Still, I should be drinking actual water. I know I'm dehydrated because I have headaches. Unless it's a brain tumor.
I should cut out this new habit: Gelato. But now we've discovered a company that makes gelato locally. With milk from local cows.
This I have to investigate. If it's very expensive I'll have a reason not to try it. But I still need to find out more.
Not giving up the biscotti.
But I can't remember the last time I ate a salad. And I realized that I didn't take any of my vitamins on my days off last week.
These are all things that can be easily addressed, but I just don't feel like it.
Why bother?
I generally don't think that way, but currently I do.

I used to have the world's largest collection of gray T-shirts and sweatshirts. I lost most of the collection after the fire. In fact, I really don't have very many T-shirts right now.
I picked up a freebie when I donated blood yesterday. It's green and says "Passion for Pints." I chose a larger size because I intend to sleep in it.
I'm also wearing, for the first time since I purchased it, a T-shirt I saved because it was "new." New, in that I'd had it since the 90s and never wore it. One of those souvenir shirts you buy when you visit a place. The place was Las Vegas and it's a black shirt with three white dogs that look like Dalmatians but instead of spots they have red chiles. The shirt says, "Chile Dogs Las Vegas."
Nice shirt. Heavy. Pretty decently made compared to the newer shirts out there.
This means I don't have to shop for shirts. I have two "new" sleepwear options.
I consider this an accomplishment.

As you can see, my standards have slipped.

I had been happy with Raw Sugar body wash, but recently I discovered that the bottle of Avocado + Cactus Pear is separating.
This is disturbing. Anyway, I won't be repurchasing. I've been diluting Dr. Bronner's unscented soap with RO water and keeping small batches in 3-ounce travel containers.
So far, this seems to be working.
Coworkers have been bringing in Mrs. Meyer's products (Costco recently had a good price on a variety pack) and the scents are overwhelming. I have four scents that we're using at home and there are two that aren't too bad (Bluebell and Rain Water) but they're still more scenty than I'd like. These will not be repurchased.
I can't believe I've become sensitive to scents. I'm not at the point where I'm going to shriek at strangers in public who are wearing a fragrance I dislike (if I ever do that, just shoot me dead), but going forward I will be buying products with less scent.
Just so weird.

@just bee What? Costco had a good deal on Mrs. Meyers and I missed it? Were these hand soaps? If so, it's a good thing I did. I have 55 bottles (2 other brands) already. That might be enough for a while. ![]()
BTW, I saw my Rheumatologist on the 19th. She asked if I was quarantining. I told her I only go to doctor appointments, the grocery store and Costco. She said stay out of the grocery stores and Costco. ![]()
Don't tell her I went to Costco on th 24th.
I all seriousness, our county is getting slammed with new Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations. The local hospitals are at max ICU capacity.
Now why am I thinking of Don McLean's "American Pie"?

I won't say a word.
But I might squeal if you drove your Chevy to the levee.
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step
You make an excellent point. We should review the lyrics (and there are a lot of them) and see how the song, released in 1971, can be interpreted in 2020.
Similar, in that we're headed in the wrong direction.
Stay safe, you. ![]()

I'm motivated enough to embark on a research project.

One of our docs mentioned there was a deal, so I avoided Costco for several weeks. Didn't need that temptation. Then I noticed a package of products at work. It looks like it may have been a variety pack -- maybe hand soap, dish soap, spray cleaner, room freshener... I didn't want to get too close to it.
I didn't want to stock a few varieties then find out I hated the scents. At first I wanted to try every one they made. I liked radish, basil and bluebell. Rain water is okay, geranium smells too much like rose, don't care for lemon verbena and oat blossom is just so strong. I could never find rosemary in the store. Wanted to try that one. And maybe lilac, honeysuckle, peony and acorn spice. Tried lavender at work. Strong.
