Red flag.  Tsk.

Looks like the dog will get a neighborhood walk today because the bosque will be soggy.

Re: ComPact 2018 -- Optimistic October

I heard from Ulta today via email so I took a gander at their website.  Lumene is no longer listed on their brands page.  Walgreens has a couple products left.  CVS and Target actually carry some new Lumene products.  No CC cream, of course, but I have a few months before I run out.

There's always Amazon, I guess... Woman Sad

Raise your hand if your hair looks perfect right after you commit to making an appointment to have it all cut off.

I'm not even sure if I have an appointment tomorrow because I use an online application to book.  I have a Monday appointment and her shop is closed on Mondays.

But I did get a confirmation so I'll drive over there -- possibly in snow -- to see if she's there.  A high of 43 degrees tomorrow.

I hope she remembers how she cut it the last time I was there...

My Peanut Butter Journey.  Chapter 1.

It was the best of peanut butters, it was the worst of peanut butters.

This is already exhausting.  Life was simple: I bought my 2-pack of Skippy creamy -- 48-ounce jars -- at Costco.  But like I said, this last batch was off.

I've made my list of butters to try -- peanut butters and not peanut butter spreads -- and I plan to pick up a jar of Smuckers Organic Creamy.  Ingredients: Organic roasted peanuts.  Simple.  And probably tastes like a stick.  Also plan to try Kirkland's two-pack although I need to take a closer look at the label.  Seems to have less sugar and more fat than other brands.  Ingredients aren't listed on Costco's site.

Another thing I have to consider is cost.  Anything else I buy will be more expensive.  MaraNatha is in a glass jar.  We don't recycle glass in ABQ and I already drink beer and wine in glass.  Yes, I do wash out my plastic Skippy jars and recycle them.  Which means I'm wasting water.  I don't flog myself: I have no children so my "footprint" is limited.

Life used to be simple.

Anyway, Sprouts might not have their in-store peanut butter machine anymore.  You could make your own peanut butter but that was probably a headache to maintain.

I don't want chocolate or caramel or honey or banana or jam or coconut or maple in my peanut butter.  Have you looked at peanut butter lately?

Do you know they add molasses to Jif?

Yes, it does taste like a stick.  It’s what I eat now when I have a taste for peanut butter.  Which, since I’ve been eating this, isn’t often.

And, yes, I did know that they add molasses to Jif.  Why else would one eat it?  Molasses and sugar added.  Now that’s peanut butter.

After I started the “healthy” peanut butter, I realized I don’t really like peanuts.  I only have been eating it for all my life because of the sugar content.

I'm so glad I didn't have a mouthful of my Amstel Light when I read this.

Okay, maybe I'll skip the Smuckers.  Unless I decide I want to drizzle honey all over it.

I've been eating Skippy for most of the 60 decades I've been on the planet.  Why stop now?

Of course I do have a vat of honey under the kitchen counter that I should use, so maybe I'm due for some flavorless peanut butter that I can doctor with a layer of butter and a river of honey.

I'd hate to waste all that honey.

@aprilskies- I was never a big Amazing Grace fragrance wearer, but I did purchase it once or twice and I enjoyed the scent. I'd actually been thinking about buying it again because I just am not finding any fragrances that I truly enjoy. Now after reading this thread I probably won't. If you could, please let us know what you think of the dupes. I'd heard them mentioned on here before but I never go to Walgreens so I never even looked at them. It might be worth a trip if they're good.

@rnmom

You know how you play games with yourself?  Like, let's see how long we can go before we turn on the air conditioning/heat?

I have one I've been playing for five years: How long can I go without buying new scrubs?

My current scrubs have held up remarkably well so I've put off buying new ones.  Now our hospital has announced that we have a new logo and our scrubs will need to reflect this horrid new logo that I can't believe anyone shelled out money to have designed.  Especially when we don't have any money.

A travesty, I tell you. Woman Mad

Re: ComPact 2018 -- Optimistic October

Good thing I got the dog out when it was just lightly sprinkling.  It's gloomy out there and raining so hard now that I can't even see the Sandias.  We had a nice walk and looked at everyone's Halloween decor.

Someone had an inflatable bee.  It was deflated, but now I want to see what it looks like when it's not.  The dog hates the inflatables.

Kinda gloomy inside today, too, so I'm doing laundry and burning a candle.  I found an old cinnamon one in the collection that had never been lit.  Scent is... faint.  Really faint.

BH and I will make some kind of cream soup later today.  They say it may snow tomorrow so I'm already in hibernation mode.

Maybe I'll watch a movie.

How are you spending this lovely autumn day?
