Happy Birthday, @just bee! 🎂🍻
10-20-2017 07:35 PM
Thanks! BH drove me to Flying Star so I could pick out my birthday dessert. They make those little fruit-topped custard tarts on certain days only and -- lucky break -- today was one of the days.
I also got a slice of their masala chai cake.
BH also bought each of us a new desk chair. I'd planned to buy him one, but he wanted to get two and pay for them.
He was assembling the first one as I read the instructions. At one point I looked up and noticed something odd on the baseboard moulding. I'm in denial and don't really want to look closely at it but I have this sinking feeling that we may discover the water heater on the other side of the wall is doing something terrible.
Maybe I'll look at it tomorrow.

Your dessert sounds wonderful! I will keep my fingers crossed for the best outcome about your errant water heater. 😐

@Oshare-girl-"Never-going-back November" I like this a lot!

@just bee-sounds like a perfect opportunity to go thru all of those summer items and purge the least desireable. I know it's hard to part with entire collections or groups of items, even if they haven't been used for a very long time. But maybe you could just start small and weed out a few pair of sandals, a few hats, a few capris and just keep your favorites, ones that you might actually use. And next year, if they don't get worn again, get rid of the rest. If it's been that long since they've been worn they're probably out of style and you wouldn't want to wear them anyway

@just beeHappy Birthday!
So I got my overdue October project done, carpet is off the stairs and they are painted. It's not the best looking because our builder frankly did a crappy job, there are screws in each step and the landing isn't even one solid piece of wood, it's hodge podged together. Plus there's gaps between the steps and the wall. But, at least it's clean and doesn't smell like puke or dog pee. Maybe someday we'll put carpet on them again but this will have to do for now.
I'm looking forward to getting a couple of bigger items out of the house the first weekend in November. Our church has an annual bazaar and they have a while elephant sale. I'm going to donate to sell a wooden rocking chair and a big floor standing DVD cabinet. They've been on my list to donate for a few months but they are too big for me to handle and I haven't been able to get hubby to load them into the truck to take to the Salvation Army. So he agreed to take them to the church for me. I'll be glad to have those items gone soon.

My decluttering did not go as planned. But, I did manage to cull out a ton of makeup brushes which is no easy feat for me. I can do more, like my IT brushes that I painfully collected. But, not ready to part with them yet. If I don’t use them in the next year or so, they will go as well. I love brushes, but what was I thinking. I have a ton. I will try and sell some of them, but it just reminded me how much I hate selling. I will try and do them a little at a time so it is not overwhelming.
Never again November. Oh yea, I am with you @Oshare-girl. I will try and hold on to that mantra. Lately, it has been tough with eyeshadow palettes. But I haven’t given in. I have not purchased any this year and I would like to finish the year strong. Holiday sales will be tough but I need to tune it out. It is absurd for me, I don’t even use what I have. Truth be told, I love mu, I just don’t use much of it.
Lately I have been trying to create new habits. It has been slow but I am trying to stick to it. One being exercising. I have done it for 3 days in a row and will go walking later. I am trying to create one new habit at a time.

Sounds wonderful, yes, but the cake wasn't quite as amazing as I'd hoped. Of course that didn't stop me from scarfing it down like an animal.
Still avoiding the inevitable.

Wearing clothes that are out of style has never been an obstacle. There was a time in which I was a dedicated follower of fashion, but that ship has sailed. If I put something on and go out in public and no one hands me a fistful of change and tells me to go buy myself a burger, I figure I look good enough.
I'm actually thinking about weeding out bright colors and bold prints first. Anything too conspicuous has got to go. I'll wear bright crazy shoes and I might even wear an oddball pair of leggings, but fabric above the waist needs to be a little more conservative. The shirt with the big tiger on the back? Gotta go. Any leftover neon from the '80s is also on the hit list.
Thankfully I only bought two pairs of capris. I can always wear those around the house.
