Dosey,
Congratulations to your son! I guess the cost of college has really gotten crazy the last few years. You must be very proud of him.
Your comments about Christmas shopping make me feel glad that we don't do much for the holidays and that I just yesterday gave out my last Christmas gifts. Now, I have to get busy with the cards, but I only send out a couple of dozen now, so I should be able to get them out before the 25th--but you never know!

Dosey girl...
You there, Dosey girl?
This one's just for you...
Cracklin' Dosey, get on board
We're gonna ride ‘til there ain't no more to go
Taking it slow
Lord, don't you know
Have made me a time with a poor man's lady
Hitchin' on a twilight train
Ain't nothing there that I care to take along
Maybe a song
To sing when I want
Don't need to say please to no man for a happy tune
Oh, I love my Dosey child
She got the way to make me happy
You and me, we go in style
Cracklin' Doze, you're a store-bought woman
You make me sing like a guitar hummin'
So hang on to me, girl
Our song keeps runnin' on
Play it now
Play it now, my baby
Cracklin' Dosey, make me a smile
Girl if it lasts for an hour, that's all right
We got all night
To set the world right
Find us a dream that don't ask no questions, yeah
Oh, I love my Dosey child
You got the way to make me happy
You and me, we go in styleCracklin' Doze, you're a store-bought woman
You make me sing like a guitar hummin'
So hang on to me, girl

Play it now
Play it now

Cracklin' Dosey, make me a smile

Yeah...
OH YEAH!
This is the era. That hair--(I think he wears a toupee now), those shirts...
It's funny what we think is cool at various times in our lives. I was thinking about the different singers I've liked over my lifetime: first it was Tennesse Ernie Ford, then The Everly(sp?) Brothers, various folk singers like Peter, Paul and Mary, Paul Revere and the Raiders, then starting in high school Sandler and Young (who was old enough to be my father), Neil Diamond after them, and I think Toby Keith was my last "crush". Eclectic group when looked at collectively. Now I rarely listen to any music.
I do like the artistic liberties you took with these lyrics, bee. Very clever of you!
Paul Revere & the Raiders? Now we're talkin'. Mark Lindsay. Kicks. Young men in tights...
All dark and broody...
And broodier...
Yep. I've always been a sucker for the dark and broody ones. But actually, "Fang" was my favorite of the group. And to think, I had to look up what his real name was (Phil Volk) just now. How my priorities have changed in fifty years.

Thank you, just bee and Geezerette! Yes, I am so proud of my son.
I have a question for everyone. I am applying for a better job. Lord knows I need it. There is a job opening that I am qualified for. The company is national and provides a service. I would manage a department - one locally and one in another state. Here's the problem. The Google ratings for this company are beyond terrible. Many of the people said that they provided the worst customer service ever. Frustrating, horrible, dishonest, negligent, and incompetent were some of the words used to describe the service. Some people used all caps and exclamation points. A few of the issues sounded like IT type problems, but some were clearly due to the CSRs not being trained properly. Would you apply for this job? Would you look at it as a challenge? I wish I knew if they were looking for someone to shape up the department. I would be interested in that. If they want things to stay the same, then I am not interested. That would be a miserable job. What do you think? There aren't a lot of jobs out there that pay halfway decently and do not require a specific degree, like engineering, nursing, etc. I have a business degree but so do a bazillion other people.

There is no harm in applying for the job! Applying for a job doesn't mean you're even guaranteed an interview. This is what I told myself when I was looking for my last job.If you get thru to an interview, if you discover you don't want the job - chalk the interview up to good experience! Doing interviews especially if it's been awhile is a good learning experience.
I wouldn't 100% believe all the online reviews. I've learned that majority of people will take time to write a BAD review vs taking the time to say they had good service.
I think go ahead and apply! Good luck in the process!! When you would get an interview, you would be able to ask questions to get a better feel on what they really want in the job.

On the Compacting front, I was online the other night and saw Korres had their new Sea Lavendar scent as a good priced duo. Yep, it was like I was on auto pilot - put it into shopping cart and hit Order asap before they sold out! But once I got the confirmation it was done, it hit me - what the heck was I doing? I went in and CANCELLED IT!!! If I would get it, I would feel guilt using that instead of the other multiple Korres butters I already have in my stash. I told myself that if this scent gets rave reviews, the chances are very good that some day it will be a Today Special. If/when that happens, I can think about buying it at that time. My stash should be smalled by then so I could enjoy it.
Since that was cancelled asap before it was shipped, I can say that I have not bought ANYTHING beauty related for myself!! I'm sticking to my goal of a No Buy for me. I was really proud of myself when I went to ULTA to get gift for my niece, I went in and bought just the gift. Did NOT look at any of the other temptations. Baby steps!
I looked at my easy pays, after this month, I won't have ANY at HSN!!! This is a big change since they usually draw me in with those deals. I do have 4 with QVC but that number is greatly reduced too. I think a good goal for me in 2016 will be to limit spending and using easy/flex pays.

I'm getting a little ahead of myself, aren't I? LOL! The dinner dishes are done, and I am going to apply for the job along with two others. You are right about reviews. People are very quick to write a bad one. Also, these reviews could represent a very small percentage of the customers they serve.

Great job!! Those evil pays add up quickly, don't they? Been there, done that. LOL

Dosey - congrats to your son. What an exciting time for him albeit a little expensive for you. Those pesky kids. The best to him. And I would apply for that job too. It doesnt hurt to talk with them and get a feel. Hopefully, you can ask them questions to try and get at what kind of company/customer service they have. Because it would be miserable if they really are terrible.
Findingmyjoy - sounds like you are doing well with your no buy. Congrats. It is so hard with all the sales and good buys around this time of year.
