Dorsey, after many applications to get a job I finally Have just given up looking and I volunteer at several places and it makes me feel a lot better. I i have really been watching my beauty spending and I can report that it is really in check now I have stopped those impulse buys, which was very hard.

Dosey, I don't post too often but do enjoy reading this thread. I just wanted to say don't give up on the job search. I don't know what type of work you are looking for, but in the past few years about 1/4 of the staff I hired were SAHMs. I hire more for attitude, integrity, character, etc. The job skills--those can be taught to the right person Smiley Happy

Hello All, JustBee a bit ago you mentioned how prices seemed to have gone up. I agree and that is partly what created my stash in the first place. Get it now while it is on sale, because I will always need shower gel, lotion, hand soap, lip balms, etc. that attitude is also why I struggle getting rid of clothes in my closet. Why get rid of a white turtleneck since I will always wear them? So I stockpile while they are on sale in the style I like before they are discontinued. What a cycle and where is the balance? I did finally open my peddle pusher, shorts, tank top drawer since it is finally hitting 70 where I live. I got a sack and tried everything on and donated what I did not like. Yeah for me.

Aye, there's the rub!

It occurred to me that I can slowly transform my wardrobe if I stop buying prints. When I prune my closets, I'll prune the prints. Just solids for me.

It may take the rest of my life, but...

Hi All. Well, I have another round of things to go out the door. This time instead of goodwill maybe I will call the veterans to pick it up. I am making progress in a lot of areas but still have a bit to go. Seems like I have to do this layer by layer at a time. Just when I thought I donated as much as I can stand, I got another burst, so that is a good thing. And I am making some hard decisions on things I thought would be hard to donate. Some areas are just daunting but I really want to start tackling scanning my paperwork and get as much digital as possible. I have been avoiding this task but need to address it soon.

Hopefully, this is not a passing phase. I have been feeling down because I cannot find a good full-time job. It is clear that becoming a SAHM was a death sentence to my career. When I finally find a job, I hope the jubilation does not send me on a buying spree. I like this new frugal self!

Hi, Dosey, I liked your post. Isn't it odd how the feeling of being worried about "having enough" can be helped by sorting and deleting what you already have? Seems like it would be the opposite. Perhaps it's about making room in your head -- by making room in your home -- for the next thing to come to you? Making it welcome, so to speak? What if we thought of all the compacting as simply a way to welcome something new, and not necessarily a thing, either--in your case, a new source of income?

I so agree. While I still have a lot to do, I am now trying to make an effort to join/do new things. Learn to play golf (the real golf), take up tennis again, I use to love to play, etc. I feel at least my mind is free to think about other things. I dont feel as weighed down anymore. At work, I have also made an effort to keep things clean and organized. I feel it allows me to think differently and I dont feel overwhelmed as much as I use to feel. You really do make room to other things to flow into your life.

Thanks for making my morning coffee go up my nose, just bee! LOVE Gary Larson!!! Sorry I've been out this week. Let's see, we moved more stuff around, and have a TON of boxes, and several old pieces of furniture (cheap stuff, from our single days!) that we are getting rid of. I'm SO glad. We bought some new, nicer pieces that we will have for decades, so I'm glad about that. No buying beauty this week, but did get an awesome deal on 3 dresses and a pair of pants that are work appropriate. One impulse buy -- WEN 613 EDT, but I love it. Will probably wear it more in the fall, as I have a few summer scents I love. Got rid of a lot of work pants that were my uniform for my old job, and gave them away. They were basically in mint condition. But I'm glad because I know the person I'm giving them to needs them and will use them!! Oh, I will buy shampoo and conditioner today at the beauty brands liter sale. I buy two of each every year and they last me the whole year. It works pretty well for me and I'm not really tempted much to buy at other times! Ok, need to get these dogs off of me and get ready for church. Have a nice Sunday!!
