Good Morning, ComPactors!
Aprilskies, the salad spinner sounds great! How did the kale chips turn out? I keep telling myself I need to try making some.
i agree about things like that taking up a lot of space. I've got a tiny kitchen with very little usable storage space.
My product weakness lately seems to be trying things that are for different things than what I already have. While it seems reasonable to buy that pinkie finger cream and the overnight treatment for my right ear (different one sold for left ear) do I really need them?
So my new goal is back to using up the things I have and replacing things as they run out. I hope. I need to avoid watching presentations. That is where I run into temptation. Specifically watching SKINN. There are a couple of his products I have used & want to buy again but I really want to get a good deal on them, not buy kits of mostly products I don't need to get small (AKA regular size) sizes of what I do need.
I'm making good progress on my living room but I may need to buy more furniture! I went to put something down & realized the stack of boxes I had been putting things on was gone! lol... Still have a few boxes to go through. I have one large box filled with office supplies, mostly things for card making, I think. I don't make cards anymore so I am going to have to deal with that. Saving things I will never use just because they are still good & cost me money makes no sense. I may need to take a deep breath & donate those things.

I like the idea of 15 minutes - but I never do 15 minutes. I think in terms of doing one thing that needs to be done. It can be small or big but the small things tend to get more accomplished. Like one box is more likely to lead to my doing many boxes than telling myself I need to do the entire room. Doing one thing often leads to doing other things.

Willdob3, Kale chips turned out okay. I always end up burning them. I even turned the oven down this last time and still managed to burn some. Honestly though, kale is not one of my favorites things. I have only tried the curly kale and not the other varieties. Not sure why I keep buying it. It either gets tossed or turned into kale chips. Its so good for you but.... I think I will try the other varieties of it before giving up on it. I hear the dino version is milder and not as hard. If I do buy the curly one again, it will be for smoothies.
I agree on the products. I am not buying more until I get through most of what I have. The way I got into trouble this time is because I bought things that I didnt have and wanted to try, or were different than what I had or were in kits. And, surprise surprise, I am overwhelmed again. I am going to avoid all of the presentations and other temptations.
I have been so tempted by the beautybrands sale for shampoo. I just bought two from other sites and dont need another, but the one I bought is not as moisturizing as I had hoped. Its the opposite but I need to make it work because it is expensive and it would cost a fortune to send back, if I can send it back that is. But that darn sale is calling my name. The few I did want to try are either sold in store only or are sold out, so that is a good thing for now. Its making me crazy though because the prices are so good. oy vey. Looks like this is still work in progress for me. LOL

It doesn't take much for us to do something we regret. I can go weeks -- months even -- without an unnecessary purchase and then I'll buy something that erases all that good work in a flash.
You all know I'm a big fan of Lumene BB cream. You also know that since the ComPact I've become incredibly cheap. I'd been keeping my eye on Walgreens and CVS, hoping for a sale price on the BB cream, but it just wasn't happening. I was getting to the point where I'd resigned myself to buying a tube at full price once the tube was completely empty.
And that would've been the right thing to do.
Instead, I was online, looking at Lumene products at Walgreens, and the CC cream in medium was on sale for $10.62 a tube. Walgreens does this. I've seen Lumene sales, but the BB cream in light is on sale; the medium is not. Suddenly I couldn't remember why I'd decided I never wanted to try the CC cream.
I went online and watched bad videos and read reviews. Next thing I knew I was ordering the CC cream. But did I order one tube? No, because I needed free shipping. There was nothing else I had to have so I ended up ordering three tubes.
As soon as I completed the order I felt like I'd made a mistake. Then I found an old review of the CC cream on Beauty Banter that perfectly compared the CC and BB formulas. Then I remembered why I'd never ordered the CC cream.
Well, in two days I had my three tubes. First issue: Medium in the BB cream is not the same as medium in the CC cream. Why is that? Why would a company have two shades -- light and medium -- and they differ between products in the line? In a big way, too.
I put some on my face and all I could say was: Goth. Medium in the CC cream is really light. Pale. Ghostly.
And now I have three tubes.
While I was trying to decide what to do to fix this stupid mistake, I noticed a big 40% off sale at Walgreens. The CC cream was now $8.99 a tube and the BB cream was $9.29.
Well, of course at this point I'm really ticked off at myself, Lumene, and Walgreens.
I had decided to go to the store to try to exchange products, but now with the sale prices I just got flustered and annoyed. And then the medium CC cream jumped back up to $10.62 for some odd reason.
This experience was getting more annoying by the minute.
Then I remembered how much I disliked the BB cream when I first tried it. I was convinced I looked like a tangerine. Time passed and I discovered I liked the product. So I took a deep breath and decided to wait. Maybe the CC cream would grow on me.
But here's the really stupid part: Ordering three tubes to get free shipping was dumb enough, but I ended up paying over $30 for three ounces. If I'd purchased the BB cream at full price I would have spent the same amount but would have had more product because the BB tubes are much larger. So did I save?
No.
This is to illustrate the stupid things we do even though we kind of know they're stupid while we're doing them.

I don't hesitate with stuff like that, especially the two unopened tubes! Sometimes, it's just better to buy what you know you like, rather than wait for a sale. Plus, sometimes spending 3 hrs of research isn't worth the $5 you'll save. Think of the boxes you could've gone through in that time! Lol!! I mean, not to rub it in or anything........![]()

It's just so ridiculous, isn't it? But I do admit there are a couple things I really do like about the CC formula. Maybe this will turn out to be a happy accident.
Or not.

That is exactly I feel. But, I agree with Future, sometimes you just have to go with the flow. That is what I decided to do. Otherwise, my latest mishaps will make me crazy. I hope you like the cc cream. Let us know what you think if you decide to keep it.

OMGosh! Are you sitting down?
I'm going to have my living room ORC completed in JUNE! I knew my living room was under all those boxes!
I got completely hardcore about what I am keeping. I've got several big bags of things to donate, including lots of office supplies & card making stock that I will never use. I am keeping some for a couple projects but most will be gone in a few days.
‎06-29-2014 08:41 PM
I'm also getting rid of lots of cords and power adapters that can't possibly go with anything I have owned in the last 5 years.

I have a few acquaintances who have hoarding tendencies (some confessed, others not) and I can't begin to express how good it feels to be getting rid of so much "stuff."
It is good to realize my overabundance of stuff is not hoarding but just poor planning, organizing, not knowing what to keep for how long, etc.
I am learning to think twice - or thrice - before keeping things I don't use.
I am even donating the very cool, scary wig I wore for Halloween 3-4 years ago.
I'm donating the health/science textbooks I kept after college. If needed, I can get current info online w/o taking up any extra space. The books I keep are reference books I use regularly.
