For decades I've heard nothing but how easy and painless cataract surgery was. It's a breeze they said. It's painless they said. Well, it wasn't for my husband and sounds like that's also not the case for you two. In fact I'm having to make him an appt with his Dr. He says something just isn't right.
Yeah...and the eye surgery WASN'T "the end" for me. I also had to have LASIK afterwards. The doc failed to mention that part.
OK, it was an easy computer application in the office...but, I wasn't expecting MORE.
Hope your husband is doing better SOON. di

Yes it is @goldensrbest . It's easy for most folks. The only inconvenience is making sure you put the eye drops in at the right time. My husband had it and no problems at all.
Don't let this thread scare you.

@San Antonio Gal Absolutely. Everyone is different but for most folks cataract surgery is very easy, almost no recovery time required and no problems. I slept with a metal shield over my eye for a week, and had to use drops for awhile. I did have follow laser surgery about 2 years after the cataract surgery to remove a small amount of scar tissue. This took about 2 minutes and was easy peasy. I have had quite a few surgeries and cataract surgery compared to my last surgery a colon resection is a piece of cake. My surgeon even asked me what my favorite music was and he had the nurse put on Elton John before he started.

@Shanus What kind of eye surgery did you have?

@Shanus --forgive me--but I must have missed this--what is going on with you?

Dear @Shanus,
Not normally here, but I wanted to log into the group of old friends I still communicate with, and I saw your name. I remember your kindness.
Please do not get miffed at me over my message. many years back, I had a terrible fall at home. I fell forward and low onto a slate fireplace hearth head-on, tearing up my forehead but luckily missing my eyes. I was lucky enough to avoid surgery, and so lucky (as I was told) my eyes were not damaged. A bit lower, doctors said I would have lost my sight.
I cried after I got out of the hospital. I looked like a monster out of a dumb movie. But I slowly recovered, and was even glad eventually to go back to work. Surgeon decided no surgery!
What I am getting at is a lesson I learned, for the rest of my life. To be grateful. Grateful my DH was home when it happened, grateful for caregivers along the way, grateful for friends and family, and grateful I did not lose my vision. And my boss called me and told me he was sending over a complete Thanksgiving dinner to my house!
I know it sounds preachy, 'cause I sometimes slip into the old me, but trying to find things to be grateful for is a healthy way to live. I feel very sorry for all you are going through, but I am grateful you will recover. And grateful for your kindness to me during a hurtful time.
All my best wishes for your healing,
Pam
