There must be going some thing going around with these rashes. I know of 6 different people who have some kind of a rash on their body and none of them associate with each other. One of them does have one on her upper leg and she got a prescription for a salve. But it is really driving her crazy for it is cracking her skin. Someone else has one from her shoulder all the way down her side of her body. Even the doctor has said he does not know what it is causing it. Good luck to you finding out what is causing it. I know for me I think I am allergic to elastic and that is causing me some problems.

When someone is allergic to elastic what they are actually allergic to is the latex in the elastic - this is very important information for your doctor and dentist to be aware of as latex allergies usually progress the more a person is exposed to latex - like the gloves used in doctor and dentists offices. Mine has gotten so bad I can't even use a band aid without getting a rash . Absolutely, tell the doctor you are allergic to latex.

Go see a medical professional for a proper diagnosis. If something is wrong for "weeks" and is getting worse, you need to know what you are dealing with in order to know how to make it go away. Coming here to get random suggestions from people who haven't even seen the rash and are not qualified to diagnose what is going on is just not going to be helpful.

I don't think the OP wants to hear this.

And I don't think people who have offered their advice, understand how serious such a long term and worsening, rash can be!

Re: Any Help/Advice For a Rash?

The first thing you should do is to make an appointment with a dermatologist. Skin rashes can spread quickly making it harder to get rid of them -- especially if they are bacterial in nature.

You may need some topical antibiotic for it and the only way to get the right type of antibiotic is for a dermatologist to determine what it is.

Statin drugs (like Lipitor & Simvastatin) can cause terrible skin rashes. If you take a statin -- that may be the cause of the skin rash.

Lots of medications can cause skin rash. Check the side effects of your medications (if you take any) and see if ""skin rash"" is mentioned.

My FIL had a skin rash that covered his entire body. He saw numerous dermatologists who were unable to determine the cause of the rash. It was a mystery rash. It got so bad that he had to be hospitalized for several weeks. The final diagnosis: skin rash; undetermined cause.

He takes Lipitor. One of the most common side effects of Lipitor is skin rash. The doctors should have known this. He has suffered with this same skin rash several times and none of the antibiotics have cured it.

Good grief, go to a doctor already! The fact that it is spreading should be enough to finally get you to go. This is ridiculous to come on the board and ask for advice about this type of thing! You shouldn't even have to ask- YES, go to the doctor!

Here's a link to skin rash photos.

Be forewarned -- some of these photos are really gross.

Maybe's she's made an appointment already. I couldn't get an appointment with a dermatologist for 2-3 weeks.

Maybe "5th disease" sometimes called the slapped face rash

I had 5th's disease many years ago & ended up in the emergency room...so sick! High fever, pounding headache, very weak & a rash that covered my entire body.

I don't think 5th's disease lasts very long, at least mine didn't. The Dr. put me on antibiotics (I had gone hiking so this was a precaution for Lyme disease) & within 3 days I was back to normal.

The OP needs to go to a doctor, she does not need to self-diagnose after this long and getting worse!
