If you need to return you will have to decide pretty fast. For me it safer to not order right away while I ponder. Usually need much less than I think. Saves money too!

I'd return or donate. In a fit of pique I may have thrown something in the trash but I would try to not make a habit of it. You know, one of those moments where it just doesn't seem worth the effort. It has happened to me.
I agree, buying D&Co on clearance or "as is", is the way to go. I sort my search by "price - lowest to highest" and once I hit a certain point I stop looking.

Since I no longer tell myself that "I'll keep this until I lose 15lbs." ; when I do get something that doesn't fit....I return it.

I am a true minimalist and either donate or discard items on a regular basis. If the item or piece of clothing is questionable, I will still donate to Am-vets and let them make a decision to try to re-sell in their store or toss it. I find it very cathartic to get rid of things I no longer need or want. We live in a small ranch house and I love keeping everything simple and clutter free. My DH is totally opposite and saves everything, so every so often I take all his clutter and put it in the basement or his office. I'm a bit OCD and feel overwhelmed when things aren't neat and orderly!! Reva

I rarely return anything, and I don’t take up space in my house storing anything that doesn’t fit.
The key for me is that I only order clothing from one place, and know it will fit when it arrives. I have returned flawed or damaged items, squeaky shoes, and a bead bracelet that broke within 10 minutes.

As a pear shape I’ve found it’s best for me to shop for clothes in stores so I can try them on. I don’t like going through the return process and have, at times, held onto things because of this. Money down the drain. Lesson learned.

I order a lot and return a fair amount for what ever reason. I will not keep clothes that don't fit or look good on me, back they go. I did donate a dress I bought recently, but only because I forgot about it and it was too late to return. Lately I have been returning high priced clothing that are just not worth the money.

Would you agree that you buy on impluse? I think you do and it might be wise to do a closet inventory before you order any more. My recollection is you are in your 80's and walk where you need to go. 10 bottoms and 15 tops should be great plenty for your lifestyle.
@AuntG I agree with you. However, I don't think @halfpint1 is still following this thread. She hasn't been back since her original post.

I either donate, or if it's not wearable ... there's an organization that has a "tent" at the local green market (May through November) that takes all textiles (clothes, towels, sheets, blankets, slipcovers, etc.,) to be recycled.
Google to find one near you.
