Oh my, even if this were a joke, I wouldn't think it funny in the least.  If one of my children gave me a mug like this I would be inclined to do just that - spend it!  How rude!

Both of my parents have passed away.  When my mother was alive she watched every penny and I used to tell her to buy things for herself to make her life easier but she refused. 

 

She was a true child of the depression.

No not at all.

 

I have a step mother who is a "social climber".  She spent my inheritance on dinner parties.

I think the saying on the mug is funny!  If my daughters gave me this mug we would laugh together and I would once again appreciate raising them to have a sense of humor.   

 

My brothers and I inherited property (land) from our dad when he passed.  This left mom with their money, and a home to live in for her lifetime.  Her money will soon be spent for her care in a facility.
