Re: What's there to talk about?

@proudlyfromNJ The guy may have political views but he is not a politician. The suicides     should be under the privacy rights act and not be discussed either if we are going that far.

His job is discussing politics. Or am I mistaken? There is no law about discussing suicides. Or am I mistaken?

Well I imagine the families involved would prefer their tradgedies weren't being discussed.I think there are privacy laws..I can't find out about my 90 year old moms health without her consent. ...surprised that we can discuss something as sensitive as a suicide.

Re: What's there to talk about?

Someone started a thread earlier today about a firing.

Well, when provoked, I will post.Woman Tongue

The thread went down like a lead balloon.

A thread like that, I wish the thread stayed so the responses stayed.  You just couldn't post on it any more.

But, no......

@Whatnow This forum reminds me of one of those BBC shows: the women go to the parlor after a very proper meal to do needlepoint, never discussing anything rude or improper, nothing really real, just surface talk.

Meanwhile, the men are over in another room, smoking, drinking, talking world affairs and politics. Something tells me a few of us would be sneaking into the latter room...but the Q is what it is....

@Quse and @dex ... like in the movie 'Giant', when Liz Taylor tries to join in with the men and their discussions and Rock Hudson won't allow it ...

Re: What's there to talk about?

There are no laws stating anyone's suicide cannot be discussed EXCEPT if those discussing it are medical providers who treated the person or an attorney or his staff who dealt with the person as well as anyone dealing with the person who are bound by privacy laws due to their occupations.   The laws state they cannot disclose any personal information or say this person was a client, patient, etc.  If as some state this cannot be mentioned or discussed by anyone - well then there would be very little news in the papers, on tv, etc!!!!!
