Yes I got my shot last Thursday & before I left they handed me a card with the 2nd shot date which is February 4 (3 weeks in between). Like you I feel very lucky.

Nebraska hasn't even begun taking appointments yet for the eastern part of the state. Shots have been given to many in the western half, then the supplies ran out. I'm happy their had enough for the medical personnel, police and fire, and all people living in independent and assisted living or skilled care facilities.

So many others need it much worse than I do! I'm staying home where it's safe. Being patient about the Covid shot after nine months is easy IMO.

Re: VACCINE APPOINTMENT

[ Edited ]

I'm so happy I was able to get my husband an appointment for Friday.  He's 73, a cancer survivor and has COPD.  This last year we have done nothing but stay home, go to the doctor and pick up groceries curbside.  I am also in NC and I called the local health dept. about 300 times between last Friday and today, in addition, he has a My Chart and I tried through that with no luck.  My county started a vaccination event at a high school today and I feel so fortunate to have gotten an appointment for him.  I won't be 65 for a few more months, so can't get a shot yet, but it is such a relief to me that he will have his.

This is the latest e-mail that we have received from Kaiser in California. We are in L.A. County, the epicenter of the worst numbers. Kaiser does not sound happy about the roll-out.

Providing you the latest information on COVID-19 vaccine supply and distribution

With the recent announcement that California vaccine guidelines were expanded to include everyone age 65 and older, we’ve received many inquiries regarding eligibility and access to the COVID-19 vaccine. We want to provide an update with the latest information on vaccine supply and distribution.

Vaccine supply

Expanding California vaccine guidelines to include everyone age 65 and older increases eligibility by nearly 6 million people in the state. Unfortunately, the vaccine supply to distributors has not yet been increased to vaccinate that many people. Right now, vaccines are in extremely short supply for all vaccine distributors across the country, including Kaiser Permanente.

As a vaccine distributor, Kaiser Permanente is organized and prepared to distribute the vaccine as we receive supply. As of January 16, we have administered more than 170,000 vaccines in California. Each week, we receive a fraction of the vaccine required to meet our demand. Kaiser Permanente cares for more than 1.5 million members age 65 and older, and last week we received a vaccine supply of just 20,000 first doses. Our ability to expand and speed vaccine distribution depends on vaccine supply made available to our state. At the current rate, we’re looking at vaccine distribution that is much slower than any of us find acceptable. We’re doing all we can to get additional vaccine supply as soon as possible.

Vaccine distribution

Like many, consistent with state recommendations and due to the vaccine supply shortage, we’re currently continuing to vaccinate the following priority groups:

·    Health care workers

·    Long-term care patients

As supply becomes available, we’ll begin offering vaccine appointments to individuals age 75 and older in alignment with California Department of Public Health guidelines.

We’ll reach out to our members as vaccines and appointments become available for them. It’s not necessary to email, call us, or go online for appointments until we’ve contacted you first. Please note that primary care physicians can’t book appointments for vaccines.

What to do now

·    If you’re a health care worker, please complete an e-visit.

·    If you’re age 75 or older, we’ll contact you directly as vaccine supply becomes available and we’ll provide you with instructions on how to make an appointment.

·    For all Kaiser Permanente members, stay up to date — for the latest information on when other groups may be able to get the vaccine, visit kp.org/covidvaccine. You can also call our 24/7 recorded message hotline at 1‑855‑550‑0951 (available in English and Spanish) for regular updates.

The pace of vaccination is dependent on supply

We’re committed to getting COVID-19 vaccines to our members and communities as soon and as equitably as possible. We’ve added capacity so that as more supplies become available, we’ll be able to vaccinate many more members at additional locations.

We anticipate vaccine supply to ramp up over the coming weeks — but vaccine supply and eligibility may vary across counties and cities. We’ll keep you updated on vaccine eligibility and availability.

In the meantime, please continue to stay home, wear a mask, and protect yourself and your loved ones. Your health remains our top priority — today, tomorrow, and always.

Re: VACCINE APPOINTMENT

[ Edited ]

@Peaches McPhee I know, right? It's insane; there is no way to access all the available sites at one time. You have to search each one separately and stay on the computer, sometimes for hours, to even find a site that has the vaccine and then if you do, the appointments are all booked up. It looks like our powers that be are making a mess out of this just like they did when the pandemic first hit. And the Erie County website hasn't been updated since they changed the age to 65 and up; it still has the old order of distribution and doesn't even list any sites where the vaccine is available. What a mess!

@caroln242 You're lucky you got to register. In NY you get online to determine if you're eligible. Even though they take your contact info, when you hit "submit", the only thing that comes up is whether or not you're eligible (I am) and a list of state sites nearby. There is only one in my area and they don't have any available appointments. I've tried the supermarkets and pharmacies near me with the same results. The state should be contacting all seniors since they ask us for our contact info, but as usual, NY state has found a way to mess things up.

@Allegheny Have you checked your county website? I moved to 1A now and I was able to pre-register on the website in my county. I received an email confirmation of my registation and it advised that I will be contacted with a place/time for my shot when it is available. I am in Montgomery County.

That's why we took 2 am. I've heard the lines are faster then and no traffic even though I'm 10 minutes from State Farm Arena.. We figure we go get our shots and go to IHOP or Denny's and have an early breakfast.

I'm in PA too! With the expanded list of eligible people, was able to sign up myself --  & my sister, brother in law & niece also signed up for our 1st shots next week! We're in our 40-50s w pre-existing conditons per the list.  Niece living in a dorm falls under 1b which is now included as well. Couldn't be happier!!! Nephew will have to wait till he turns 16. My mom in her 70s got her 1st shot last week! Yippee!!  I went through our city health bureau's website.  Took less than 5 minutes to sign up. Maybe try that? I'm sure every city/county is different,  but give it a shot!

My mom got an email within 24 hrs giving her a link to sign up for her 2nd shot-which she did. I'm assuming will be the same for us next week when we go.

Edited to add trying to go through our doctors/specialists & got nowhere. Even the 2 main hospitals just had you fill out a questionnaire & said they'd get back to you. For our city, the health bureau was the winning choice for us personally!
