I've been debating with myself for months about getting another cat after my ten-year-old had to be euthanized unexpectedly back in November. I had pretty much decided 'no', but my three-year-old cat seemed to be missing having another cat around.
My friend fosters at our local animal shelter and had been helping out with the cats because they are short of help right now. She was pleading with me to take a different kitten that she was worried about and she just happened to catch me at a time that I felt decent for a few days so I went down to the shelter.
The kitten she wanted me to take was absolutely adorable (a little tabby with white feet and chest), but boy, was he a handful! I just didn't think my cat or I could handle that one when he grew up.
This little guy was in the back just quietly watching everything. We visited a while and he seemed to like people but was much calmer and I thought he'd be a better fit.
They guess he's about nine weeks old, but obviously very small for his age. He was brought in by animal control (someone found him abandoned on their property) at what they estimated was four weeks old. He's been hand raised at the shelter since, so he's used to people.
Definitely an unintended hiccup in my life.
