Among Friends

A few months ago, my 92 year old mother decided to distribute her belongings while she was alive  as a 'pre-inheritance'. 

She requested me to distribute $2500 in $250 increments to a friend.   Needless to say, this friend was very appreciative since she worked in the tourism industry .. in other words she wasn't working.  Her son, who works as a baggage handler at the airport, moved in with her to share expenses since his hours at been cut significantly. 

Last week I found out that her son had been mugged last month.  Due to the bruises, he was not allowed to work in a public-facing job and because his hours were cut he was not eligible for sick leave.   They had 0 income coming in.

Unbeknownst to my mom, her pre-inheritance has been paying for their food and gasoline for the past month.    Talk about perfect timing!

Love this! Nice idea to pass out the inheritance now and see the happiness and appreciation.

I wonder if the son can collect unemployment since he was told to stay home from the job
