@dex

First let me again say "Congrats on your sons marriage!".   Read the update -- sounds amazing & stress free for 2 people in 💗!

You asked me to update you on my trip to Vegas for my sons wedding...(let me say I was a little concerned about a Vegas wedding🤔) it was the most loving & memorable day I'll remember forever ...not for the place but to see how happy and content my son & his wife are together.

The day started out as a hot (100 degrees) day but the ceremony was 8:30 pm.  In the morning they had to go get marriage license, etc.  (they stayed at different hotel) then their longtime friends flew in.

We met them at 7:30 at their hotel.  They invited us up to their room to see his fiancé put his buttoner on & just have a few minutes together before heading over to the place they chose for the ceremony "Welcome to Las Vegas sign" (still I wasn't sure what to expect).

They called for a Uber to take us ...while waiting for the ride -- this big black limo pulls up, the driver asked us if we needed a ride (was clearly a real limo company) we looked at him strangely because honestly that is a big expense.  The driver said "you're only getting married once and I'll take you for 1/2 price".  (My spouse was leary, asked him will you wait for us, etc.).  He called his dispatch and was given the OK to charge 1/2 price. So we definitely went in style! (guess it was another unexpected surprise that he drove up -- who knows but that was perfect!)

The minister & his wife (photographer) were there & the fun began!!!

I was totally shocked because there were about 80-90 people in line to have their pic with the "sign".  Who says we are a "rude" society...perfect strangers saw them setting up -- they stepped aside and let us go & joined in the ceremony.  It was the most emotional beautiful service I have experienced -- 2 people in love, getting married by a wonderful minister who they just met but gave the most beautiful "sermon" and then performed the marriage ceremony.

When the minister said "I now pronounce you man & wife"....every person there let out cheers & starting coming over and shaking their hands, hugging them, etc.  -- it was totally magical!!!  Everyone was crying "tears of joy" including the kids...I've never seen my spouse that emotional.  Then the photographer took lots of pics.

 The whole experience was beautiful and the absolute kindness of perfect strangers made it all the more wonderful & memorable.  Plus, the evening was perfect temp!

Last night we celebrated with a delicious dinner with them & their friends at a beautiful restaurant Caesars casino.  The food was excellent and we couldn't be happier with the wonderful lady he chose for his bride.  I hated to say "goodbye"😥 since I probably won't see them until September when they host a "family bbq celebration"!

I'm so glad my husband decided to come we had a wonderful 5 days of fun which we haven't been on vacation in 6 years together!

Enjoy that family gathering to celebrate your sons wedding!

@homedecor1 Wow that does sound memorable and beautiful.I am loving 5he break from tradition and how the day unfolds with wonderful surprises that create the memories of a lifetime.I think for some couples the scripted wedding can be very stressful and all of the plannning and budgeting can take some of the joy out of the occasion.Thank you for the update ...I enjoyed reading it.

Sounds to me like you and DH shared the best and most relaxed wedding day with your son and his new bride.Congratulations to your whole family.May your son and his wife live happily ever after.

You will so love it @dex.  My DIL touches my heart more times than I can mention.  Just this week she sent me an email telling me how she wants to come next Saturday to watch Mary Poppins with me.  She loves the movie and has not seen it in years and knows I have a copy.  So Sat. afternoon before she goes to work the night shift as an RN we are going to sing with Julie Andrews and D. Van ******.  Congrats and get ready for the love.
