@dex

Congrats!!! In 48 hours from now my son will be marrying his life partner in Vegas...on the strip no less!

I'm lucky to be able to go and share in the fun!  Of course, after the ceremony its "cya mom!" but that's ok with me!!!

Perfect planning on your son & future DIL thinking.  Mine did the same they bought a home & have been fixing it up and want to travel.

They were adamant about not having a big expensive wedding when they have so many other things they would rather spend the $$$ on.  Plus, the planning of a wedding is so stressful!  (They came to this conclusion to elope a few weeks into planning, getting prices & doing a guest list...lol!!!)

They plan to have a family & friends bbq in September.

@homedecor1@That is a carbon copy story from my son and new dil.They had a spectacular and stress free day.I am getting some cell phone pics coming through and I had two calls so I can’t feel too sad about not being there.I hope your newlyweds live happily ever after.I think these young people have things figured out....could become a new trend.

It's like a pendulum, weddings have been getting bigger and bigger, more and more expensive. Friends see the aftermath of years of debt and decide it's not worth it for just one day so they opt out.

@occasionalrain My son and his new wife had a wonderful wedding.They said it was totally stress free.The morning of they were treated to a champagne breakfast on their patio overlooking the beautiful ocean.Later my son went fishing and his fiancé went to the spa for massage,hair,makeup,mani and pedi.The wedding was on the beach and my son walked partway to the altar where he was joined by the priest.His fiancé joined him there and they finished the walk to the alter together.They were treated to a candlelight dinner served in the lanai on the beach and they said the dinner was amazing.They both said the time was magical and they just felt amazingingly happy.
