My husband and I went out lst night for a steak dinner. It was pricey.
How much is too much to you? My entree was $40 and my husband's was $45. Am I being out of touch?

@Puzzle Piece $45.00 for a steak in my area would be high, unless you are also adding in drinks. You did not eat? You mentioned that yours was $0.

IMHO, yes $45 for one dinner is too much.
But prices are getting higher and higher.... so personal examination as to whether it's worth it or not is probably the answer. And if you decide to go for it, enjoy it thoroughly and don't regret it....... JMHO

@Puzzle Piece What kind of steak, what came with it, and what kind of restaurant? Doesn't sound out of line for higher end restaurant here in the Philly burbs. Why was your's zero dollars?

@Puzzle Piece I think $45.00 for two steak dinners is a real bargain.
My husband went to Costco for filet mignon. He wanted it for his birthday. It was $75+. It was more than one meal. I think there are 2 pieces left. And that was just for the uncooked meat.

It depends on where you go. At a nicer steak house, that's reasonable, if it's Applebee's, then no.

A high end restaurant in the Phoenix area a steak alone would be $55-$75. Add a potato, veggie and it would easily be close to $100 per person. A mid priced place like Coopers Hawk, Cheesecake Factory or Outback a steak with potatoes and a veggie is around $40 and up, then a more modestly priced place like Black Angus a steak is still around $35 and up.

A prime rib eye steak, with bone, I buy at the butcher shop is ~$35.00 for one!

$45.00 for a steak dinner in a nice restaurant is more than reasonable to me.
