I did not read all the posting so if this has been stated already, sorry.
If your age permits, please consider joining a senior center. Senior Centers seem to have a bad wrap of being a place for old people. But my mother was at home bored and some what depressed, she joined her local senior center and has met people and found activities. Her center goes on trips every week, they go out to dinner, lunches, concerts, plays and trips.
Also you can go to the center for lunch, play bingo, cards, line dance, etc.
Also I'd like to share, most senior centers have membership cards for their county or state, you don't have to go to the senior center closest to your home. For example, the center around the corner from her home does less trips while the one in the next county (5 miles) does a lot more trips and events.
I am waiting for the day and praying my health will permit me to join a senior center. Many people are members of 2-3 centers and then pick and choose where they go based on the activities that interest them.
