Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Hello my friends!  We had Father David back again for Mass this morning, he's still on the mend from donating his kidney, so he just told us he's doing fine, it just takes time, we had no homily, and he didn't distribute Communions, lots of other people do that anyway.  So he sat there, guess being on his feet isn't so good.  Got a hug from him after Mass, made me feel special!   The rest of the day was blessed by being ordinary, sun shiny day, with nothing going on, so we just stayed home and relaxed, got a game of cards in, I made a good hot dish! Made it as healthy as I can!

Forget what you have done for others and remember what they have done
for you.  Lord, a gift is given freely with no expection.  May I become a
truly giving person.

S C R I P T U R E   F O R   T H E   D A Y

"I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for your
progress and joy in faith, so that I may share abundantly in your
boasting in Christ Jesus when I come to you again.  Only, live your life
in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that, whether I come and
see you or am absent and hear about you, I will know that you are
standing firm in one spirit, striving side by side with one mind for the
faith of the gospel, and are in no way intimidated by your opponents.
For them this is evidence of their destruction, but of your salvation."
~Philippians 1:25-28

Spiritual progress is the law of our being.  We can try to see around us
more and more of beauty and truth, knowledge and power.  Today we can
try to be stronger, braver, more loving as a result of what we did
yesterday.  This law of spiritual progress gives meaning and purpose to
our lives.  We can always expect better things ahead.  We can accomplish
much good through the strength of God's spirit in us.  We need not be
discouraged.  The world is sure to get better, in spite of setbacks of
war, hate, and greed.  We can be part of the cure of the world's ills,
rather than part of the disease.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that I may keep progressing the better life.  I pray that I may
be a part of the forces for good in the world.

Prayer to Saint Anthony of Padua, Performer of Miracles
Dear Saint Anthony, your prayers obtained miracles during your lifetime. You still seem to move at ease in the realm of minor and major miracles. Saint Anthony, Performer of Miracles, please obtain for me the blessings God holds in reserve who serve Him. Pray that I may be worthy of the promises my Lord Jesus attaches to confident prayer.[mention your special intentions]

TAX ASSESSOR
Author Unknown

A tax assessor came one day to a poor pastor to determine the amount
of taxes the pastor would have to pay. The following conversation took
place;

"What property do you possess?" asked the assessor.

"I am a very wealthy man," replied the minister.

"List your possessions, please," the assessor instructed.

"First, I have everlasting life (John 3:16).

"Second, I have a mansion in heaven (John 14:2).

"Third, I have peace that passeth understanding (Philippians 4:7).

"Fourth, I have joy unspeakable (1 Peter 1:8).

"Fifth, I have divine love which never faileth (1 Corinthians 13:8).

"Sixth, I have a faithful precious wife (Proverbs 31:10).

"Seventh, I have healthy, happy obedient children (Exodus 20:12).

"Eighth, I have true, loyal friend (Proverbs 18:24).

"Ninth, I have songs in the night (Psalms 42:8).

"Tenth, I have a crown of life (James 1:12)."

The tax assessor closed his book, and said, "Truly you are a very rich
man, but your wealth is not subject to taxation.

June 25, 2015 - Homily of the Day

In the first reading, Abraham impregnates the slave-girl of his wife Sarah and she conceives and gives birth to a son, Ishmael. This happened because Sarah herself could not conceive and so she put her trust in her schemes and not on God’s promise to Abraham that he and Sarah would have a son of their own.

We often lose faith in God when things do not seem to be going our way. Then we make our own projects and in the process disregard God’s laws. For example, we limit the number of children we want for our own families because we do not trust in God’s providence. We disregard our Christian principles as long as we get the wealth and success we desire. We forget to build our houses on rock and do not practice what we have heard in church. We compromise and even give up our Christian values in order to get what we want. How many Christian families have been corrupted by the values of the world! So instead of getting what we want, we end up making a mess of things. We must be certain that the laws of the Lord are perfect and to disobey them is to court disaster.

Let us continue to trust in the Lord. Let us wait for his saving power. In the meantime we should continue to obey his laws and trust in his plans.

Jesus Calling

June 25

Open your hands and your heart to receive this day as a precious gift from Me. I begin each day with a sunrise, announcing My radiant Presence. By the time you rise from your bed, I have already prepared the way before you. I eagerly await your first conscious thought. I rejoice when you glance My way.

Bring Me the gift of thanksgiving, which opens your heart to rich communion with Me. Because I am God, from whom all blessings flow, thankfulness is the best way to draw near Me. Sing praise songs to Me; tell of My wondrous works. Remember that I take great delight in you; I rejoice over you with singing.

This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
-Psalm 118:24

Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.
-Psalm 95:2

“The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.”
-Zephaniah 3:17

Hi! Gloriajean, hope your arm feels better today.  Lovely Sunday for me too. Mass and some cleaning and reading once I came home. Good time with my kitties!  Also, spoke with my cousin who lives in Charlotte, NC. We talk a few times a week and just laugh all the time. Love her dearly and hope someday to live closer to her.  She is my best friend for sure.

Well, off today but back to the museum rest of the week.  Have a lovely day ladies filled with many blessings.

Peace, Nancy

Gloriajean, how is Sammy? I could not get on yesterday but please know he is in my daily prayers to St Francis.  I pray each day for animals I know who need extra help.  Also ones who are just loved by us humans like my Faith and Virginia.  So, know he is thought of daily and included in my prayers.  Hope you are all ok!

Peace, Nancy

Be a force for good. I really like that from the daily prayer, gloriajean!  I'm going to encourage my grandkids to be just that.

Thanks again for a great post. I see your posts for the next day in the late evening in my time zone, but I don't read them until the next morning. They go great with coffee!

Nancy - My arm is somewhat better today.  Nice of you to keep in touch with your cousin.  You asked about Sammy.  Took him to the Vet this morning, the Vet said he's not ready to go yet.  We can feed him anything he wants, all the treats he wants.  The time that would be the time would be when he's not happy to go outside anymore to go potty.  He is very excited and happy to go out.  Not concerned about the teeth, just not to feed him hard food.  The cough will stay, but he's had that for a couple years already.  So we can keep our Sammy a while longer!! Thanks to God!

Harlene, thanks for your prayers for Father David.  It really was an unselfish thing he did. Such a major surgery!

Ruby Laine - Pretty soon I'll be having some grandkids, don't know what that's like.  Twins are going to be a lot of work!  You're so welcomed to the posts - I'm so glad you read them and get something out of them with your morning coffee.  I'll think of you when I have my morning coffee!!

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Good news about Sammy Gloriajean!  We just need to be thankful for the days we have with our beloved pets.  Someone once told me they are only ours to love and take care of and they ultimately are God's gifts and will return to him.  Still makes their aging tough.  My Faith and Virginia will be 11 in September and I cherish each day with them.  One of my previous kitties, Cleo had kidney disease for 9 years and I took care of her daily with fluids and medicines.  She taught me about being strong in my faith. She opened my heart and took me out of myself.  Cleo was really a lifesaver. So, I named my current kitty Faith in honor of that.  Anyway, good news and just love on Sammy and he will return this 100x over!

Peace,Nancy
