Here is a publication by a non-profit, unbiased industry study group that reports objectively to consumers about power grid and energy issues. I’m sure there will be lots of folks who simply must refute any reports they disagree with, but an open mind may settle some questions.
Smart meters are not dangerous to health or cause disease like cancer. And they are not “like having a cell tower” in your house. The amount of signal strength is negligible.
Read some research-based facts vs myths:
The Dept of Energy is also trying to educate consumers and dispel misguided concerns. There is a website dedicated to give information on the smart grid and its benefits to everyone “connected”. Here’s a particular page of edifying facts.
https://www.smartgrid.gov/the_smart_grid/smart_home.html
Hope this helps anyone who is receptive to the idea that coincidences (and anecdotes) are not correlation. One neighbor’s unfortunate problem with a particular smart meter is not a statistic.

@caseymaye We all should be....but the Herd mentality comes into play....everyone just Opts in and accepts being told it is just fine.
Just like Monsanto and RoundUp....it comes down to making money at the expense on human lives and health. Later.....it will come out that this 5 G is causing problems as people start getting sick and illness... but it will be too late.

2 months before our smart meter was put in, we had received 2 estimated electricity
bills.
Then got smart meter in and received current statement and it was a whopping
knock your socks off $185 more. Called and complained how can they estimate
2 bills and then charge and outrageous increase when on the bill it does not state anything under estimated bills that your next bill can be an incredible increase.
Of course in electicity companys favor. They always win. Crooks. Was told they
have the right to adjust our bill because 2 previous months bills were estimated
from last years at this time.

Pepco switched us to "smart meters" w/o any notification. One day I came home and had to reset everything due to power outage. Didn't know Pepco had done this until next bill came and it had final reading of old meter + reading on new meter.
Some ppl are refusing to let Pepco/BGE replace their meters b/c they're concerned about radiation (I guess these ppl don't use smart phones either?). Pepco/BGE will let you keep the old meters, but then they tack on a upfront fee + (usurious) monthly fee since they still need to be read manually.
I've noticed my bills have increased since they switched over and my electricity use pattern hasn't changed. Hmmm ... I suspect at some point the utilities will start to charge differential rates based on time of day.
I refuse to join "smart rewards" program where they can cycle AC on/off during peak demand days during summer b/c I've heard stories of ppl's AC being cycled off and "accidentally" not turned back on again.
