Here's Betty's post from this morning, 9/3
More hot and humid weather here. Don't care for it at all. Our summer just arrived late this year. We got very spoiled. Going to have to take a brief trip to the store Senior day was Tuesday so they should be restocked by now. Queen im so glad you enjoyed your new doctor. He sounds a lot like our heart doctor. Looks young but confident.

Epi you have the trifecta - RA, OA and bad back. I'd throw in the tailbone but I don't know what is greater than trifecta (honestly).
Your house is going to be so beautiful when it's all done (not saying it's bad now). I have been looking at the wallpaper that starts in the upstairs hall, goes down the stairway and goes into the entrace hall. The lady who owned the house before me was a school teacher who likely did this work on summer break. I wash my walls and have been known to hang a mean wallpaper, however looking at that job just takes the wind out of my sails.
I've thought more than once about hiring that job out - really, I don't need to kill myself trying to hang wall paper over a flight of stairs - even with a little giant ladder.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Did that once Bernie, never again lol, those stairs are treacherous so I'd advise not too, finally had mine taken off & painted, but would love wallpaper again. I'm still pondering putting shutters on the window in the stairway, would not be as bad as wallpapering but still iffy with the stairs

Good afternoon all, it is hot & muggy again today, just cannot take it for long, watered my plants, cleaned up doggie do, that's it till supper which I'll cook on the grill , keep the kitchen cool
Did run some errands today, but that in & out of the a/c car I think is worse than just staying out, but had a bag of stuff for the Salvation Army, pick up DS mail as he's out of town, & grocery shopping, nothing exciting but it did me in.
Hoping all with health issues are resolved, it can be so frustrating but it sounds like all are doing well.
Tomorrow is Labor Day celebration at O'Hare so we have bands in all terminals, fun times.
Hope all have a fun Labor Day Weekend, we have Soccer tournaments with grandson, hope it cools off
Take Care

Sue, I am so happy that you had a favorable experience with your new doctor. Sorry about the water bill and the leak. You are right about our houses and us needing repair - always somethin.
Betty, it's hot and humid here. Thunderstorms continue to roll through this afternoon and I know when I leave work, it's going to be clammy out there - yech.
Spix, I waffle between wanting new wallpaper or maybe painting then overlaying with stencils. For now, I like the pattern of the wall paper and it;s vinyl or something not quite paper, which washes nicely.
I work with a lady that is about 13, 14 years older than me. Nice God fearing woman, hard worker, good daughter, good mother, lovely person. She hasn't been feeling 100% the past couple of weeks. She went to a new doctor earlier this week, was advised to go to ER yesterday by her doctor as initial test results looked like a liver infection and the doctor knew the only way to get it looked at quickly was ER. When I asked how the doctor appointment went, she showed me initial reports that suggest she has tumors in her lungs and liver that could be cancerous. It took every ounce of control for me to not burst into tears. I remained calm and we talked, the way we always do about things.
I am struggling with this from a faith perspective. She planned on retiring at the end of 2016. She is a good person, salt of the earth. Criminals are roaming the street healthy as an ox. It's not right and I need to hit my knees tonight and pray on this.

Sue's post from today 9-3
Don't blame you for loathing that humid weather, Betty! I cannot tolerate humidity, hence the reason we live in this part of the country. The weather here is a little cool so much so that I turned off both of the ceiling fans in the kitchen and den areas.
Freddie, I've been watching the Q and seeing so many Irish sweaters and wondering if you ordered one this year. I remember how you love them. I saw one or two I sort of liked, but I knew I didn't need any more sweaters though I don't have any of their quality. I did order two of their poncho's years ago and I've really enjoyed them. They just showed a one time only sweater.
The plumber turned off our water this morning and has been by to see if it's dry enough under our house for him to access the area, but he said there is still lots of water down there and I thought later I should have said "I know - $132.00 worth of the stuff"!
The access to the crawl space is through a small closet in our master bathroom. The plumber took the door off of that closet and mud has been tracked throughout the room and a big glob on the scale and I'll be surprised if Robin can come tomorrow as the plumber and his helper wiil likely be working or at least I hope they'll be here. I told Jim we may have to go to a motel if this goes on much longer as we can't be without water indefinately. We shall see how much water has evaporated when the plumber returns this afternoon. It's a mess, but messes happen and we just have to roll with the punches.
Happy Thursday all. Hope your mess is less messy than my mess!
Sue
Update: Plumber was here and says still too much water in the crawl space and he plans to be back tomorrow afternoon. So looks like Marine bath's and using distilled water to flush and we'll see what tomorrow brings, but no Robin to clean
....and I kept watching the Rose of Tralee show until I saw a sweater I thought I had to have: The long cardigan with capelet in garnet. Just couldn't resist!

Hey bird!
Handsome and I had a relaxing weekend at the beach...oceanfront view with private balcony! What do ya think of that!?? LOL. No news, no computers, no cooking/cleaning/laundry, no phones...cool breezes. I sat on the balcony reading and watching Handsome fish in the ocean. Lots of surfers to watch, too. We don't get away often, so it was a real blessing.
Returned to high temps and humidity, which I'm trying to ignore and hold on to the ocean life a little longer lol...they're calling for cooling this weekend...I'm just glad it's Sept as I always think of it as summer being half-way over.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend and co-worker, and I so completely understand the faith struggle in such circumstances. At this early stage, anything can happen...incorrect diagnosis, treatment, healing, etc. I'll say a prayer for her...you sound like a great friend, and I bet she feels blessed to know you ("for such a time as this?").
Hello to all you back fencers...have a great evening.

Happy Friday Fencers :-)
It rained steadily last night and actually helped to put me to sleep. It's kind of hazy and still hot and humid, but at least the threes and shrubs got a drink of water.
The construction guys poured the concrete for the street (on the other side of me) yesterday morning. They were squeegeeing water off of it today so I guess the rain didn't bother it.
Hopefully in a couple of weeks they will do my side (length of about 7 houses). My side is the final part of the street and then we'll be done.

Someone will have to explain to me why I have TWO Back Fence threads and TWO Bird Nests threads. Are there gremlins afoot again? Just drives me insane - these boards that is.
Not as hot today - in fact past couple days or so it has not been bad at all.
Davey is doing fine - - now to get him to OPEN his school books, READ them and then DO some work. What a royal pain he has become. Now if I could only get him to show even half the energy in school work that he does in cleaning out the food in this house - he would be getting STRAIGHT A's!!!!! Sigh.
Sue have not figured why your post had to be sent here via someone else - but perhaps I will.
Hope all have a great day.
Epi, slow down and smell the flowers. LOL.
