I was having issues with my router. The genlemen on the line, was from Frontier. He was able to see my Rokus and Fire sticks. I asked him how, and he said if it is plugged in that it is running even if the TV is off. He also said they are equipped with cameras. Said when not watching, remove the stick as you will have no privacy. He floored me. Just thought I would pass this on incase you want to know.
I know several worried about purchasing Alexa because of being watched, but if you have Roku or Fire stick they are watching you. This world is getting crazy!

Creepy.

I don't believe that is true. A TV has no photographic properties. I can understand how he could detect it plugged in, but I think the rest is an urban legend.

Could be a Frontier tactic. If I remember, Frontier is a cable company and they probably don't want you going elsewhere for your tv viewing!

The devices can be detected because they are connected to the internet through your router. Neither device has a camera.
IMO the tech with whom you spoke should be reported to Frontier for fearmongering by spreading false information.

I was going to ask where the camera is. I wonder if a smart tv would have something to do with this or maybe it's listening in somehow. Creepy.

So Roku is watching my husband drink beer and snore. Party on.

It's why I don't want any of those things you can talk to - other than a telephone.
No Dot, no Echo or the latest TV remote. The built in cameras and microphones are turned off on my laptop and tablet, same for my husband.

I don't believe this. Any my roku sticks are behind the TV against a wall. So they can look at my wall all day long. Silly.
